Mia that country were all that is taking place is one of allies, that country is our friend , we probably sell them guns.

its just a question MIA, do people of other colors make you feel uncomfortable? Its part of psycological profile I'm building of you, honestly you facinate me, it amazes me that someone who probably as a lot of common with me has such crazy and illogical viewpoints.

An individual being a whack job really has nothing to do with being Islamic (or any faith for that matter).

4 years ago Andrea Yates drowned her 5 kids and she was otherwise a "good Christian woman":
    http://www.wsws.org/articles/2001/jul2001/yate-j02_prn.shtml

David Koresh (of Waco fame) was a Christian fundamentalist:
    http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/waco/koreshjc.html

Timothy McVeigh (Oklahoma City bombing) was a devout Catholic:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timothy_mcVeigh

I'm not saying I think "Islam is cool" (I don't think Catholicism or Christianity or the majority of organized religion is "cool" either). But to say every person of Islamic faith is a bad person is ignorant IMO.

we have a word: "every forest has its brushwoods"
    I hope I've translated correctly.
I mean.. there are problems in every community, we don't have to generalize...

I agree completely. What I am trying to assertain is why the "government/culture" according to the CNN article I read seemed to indicate that it was common practice, not a (few nutjobs) nut like I indicated in my opening statment. I'd like to think it is just a few nut cases taking things to the extreme. But the article seemed to indicate that it was frequent, common, and that the authorities really do not take punishment of the obvious crimes as necessary.

I apologize if I have not made my initial point clear. It's just an observation. I know not every Muslim runs around slitting their kids throats, just like I know every Catholic Priest is not molesting 10 year old boys (which has been shoved down our throats for some time...). It's what seems to be a overwhelming lack of initiative on the part of the law to take this stuff more seriously.

The lady that drowned her kids might have seemed an otherwise "good Christian", but she was not reacting to something religion or Christianity taught her, ie., kill your kids. She truely was whacked. This guy on the other hand was calm, and collected when questioned. He almost seemed proud of what he felt he was directed to do.

He is still a nutjob in my book. I'll admit my "title" from time to time here at DP may be a little off, but it gets people in the thread. my "message" is a bit different.

Take it for what you will.

Exactly. Barbarism is not unique to any religious sect. There isn't a religion in the world that at one point or another wasn't used as an excuse for barbaric behavior. Well, there's the Universal Life Church, which I haven't heard of any crazies claiming as an excuse, but they do have their share of nutjobs just like any other.

True, but I am not generalizing. I am reacting to the article, which clearly indicated this was a common practice.

The bottom line is the dude is crazy. I've never heard of anything in Muslim teachings (admittedly I have not researched it) that tells followers they need to kill their daughters so they don't commit adultery in the future.

That guy could have been Buddhist, Christian, Atheist or whatever else and probably would have done the same thing.

So if whoever wrote the article put a twist on it that it his actions were based solely on his religion, then I would say that they are very wrong.

i've never really understood why a man forces his wife to wear a bhurka (covered from head to toe, even the eyes) yet he can prance around in tshirts and jeans.

Killing for honor like cases like these is not part of Islam, it's part of culture.
How crazy to us westerners that might seem.

It's my civic duty to marry that chick and infiltrate the bin Laden family. If I'm lucky, I'll see him at a family gathering, turn him in and get the $27M reward. Worst case scenario, I just get a hot wife from a family with crazy amounts of money.

For someoe who's not trying to be an ass, you're sure doing a hell of a good job of looking like an ass! You can no more hold all of Islam responsible for the actions of @ssholes than you can hold all of Christianity responsible for guys like David Coresh or Jim Jones. These are isolated incidents that the majority of muslims reject.

It absolutely does, HRBL. You read it correctly.

Right on! Organized religion (read: cults) of any kind is a BAD idea.

I'll second that! Hubba Hubba! :D
