Gtech, can I set up a site without using the wordpress template?
I want to set up a site with eBay auction and put some related articles and news to it.

    Hi alligrand,

Yes, there is an API version that is separate from the WP plugin, that you can use on php driven sites.

Kerosene, can you be more specific. I go to the main, click the advance search and put the item number. it will display the item directly but no RSS link at the bottom.

in some cases (category) phpBay do work, Gtech any idea ?

    1. Get an eBay RSS feed url
Use eBay's advanced search (remember to enter your PID in the affiliate field), then on the search results page copy the url of the tiny RSS logo at the bottom of the page. This the url to the search results feed.

    2. Run the feed URL through an RSS parser script.
I use lastRSS, it's very basic, but it works for me :) You can also use Magpie etc.. You can then fiddle with the output to format the ads however you'd like.

If you need more info - just Google "parsing rss feeds". There's plenty of info out there.

Nice site you got there . one suggestion, probably you should remove all the adsense. you site will be more focus, and no potential of leaky potential buyer (going to other site rather than ebay).

anybody has better idea of displaying specific item (based on item number) wp post ? currently i'm doing it manually. phpbay does not give consistant output. ebay rss cannot be used as it is meant for specific item. any pointer will be much appreciated.

Check out my site. http://www.hyperplanet.com (Since this is my first DP posting, I can't give you a sig or live link.) I've put a few GPS related listings on it, seems to be a hot item for the holidays.

Still have a lot of work to do. It's a work in progress. I just took the default Wordpress theme, modified it a little to be more "store" like. I had a $50 coupon for Adwords and have been messing around a little with that. At first I was trying $0.10 bids on ads. Now I'm up to $1. I've had about 7 visitors in 24 hours. Since I have no experience with CJ and Adwords this is a huge learning curve.

I've spent the most time just trying to find the best setup with WP to make everyting flow. Once I've got that perfected, new additions should be cookie-cutter like.

    Nice job on PHPBay GTech.

Does anyone know some good free WP themes to use as a store front?

I like the way it looks but I think you need some text in there. Is it converting for you?

I have a small PPC campaign on mine and I am picking up some search traffic on the small bit of text I am using. I am using PHPbay.

hmmm......I did have some text on there pulling information from another rss feed discount place - but I was thinking to myself its not really for content. and I do not want anyone leaving to the other discount place and converting on their end
