I would say that whilst the meta who cleared up the mess would most likely be unaware of this thread, its existence would have led someone reading it to report a quality control problem that was then dealt with. So you're both right. The guy that spotted it first could have just lodged a report in RZ or via the Abuse Report link and the same end result would have occurred, the thread just made a mountain out of a molehill. But without any report it is likely not to have been picked up, hence I would guess Jim's thanks.

I guess I was wrong about it having content - my opinion was that it did. Obviously I still have things to learn - and I'm now off to find out why :) .

I wish I could say it would never happen again - but then I wouldn't be human.

I can assure you that it was not.

Look at item#52. The removal was the direct result of an abuse report filed by mdvaldosta. This mechanism works and is available to every one. We should credit mdvaldosta for using the proper procedure.

Come on now. Let’s leave the dead resting. ;)
The important thing is that the issue was resolved.

That's one important thing. That's not all the issues. Another issue at least equally important is how it got there to start with.

As has already been stated here, quite a few different editors over the years. Also already pointed out, Google adwords hadn't been invented at the time.

You might like to check out when the ownership of the domain changed.

To divulge that information would mean that DMOZ would have to admit corruption. Dmoz is not concerned with exposing the major problems it has. Dmoz is only concerned with creating a directory for its editors, to benefit is editors and to line its volunteers pockets. If they happen to list a few sites that dont belong to editors, friends of editors or the poor saps that have to donate to someones paypal account then what good is the directory for them.

We always hear the same old BS, DMOZ is a directory for the public it is filled with unique content/ sites that better serves internet consumers, Dmoz has no value when it comes to rankings, yet we still see broad areas of corruption within several categories within ODP.

To the DMOZ editor ( Who Has Low Post Count ) who gave me blue rep, this is not the RZ we are able to speak our minds here and I bet that just burns your a$$. You are in the minority here.

I think in the DMOZ threads it's pretty even Steven - but I'm assuming some of the guys are used to trolling in the Resource Zone, so they can't handle mano a mano.

You are probably right but what burns me is the fact that because we speak our minds they cant handle ( This Not Being The RZ...They Cant Ban Us ) so they try to give us red rep. I can honestly say I have not given one piece of red rep to any of the DMOZ editors and believe me I would like to but this is what freedom of speech is all about. We may not agree with everything someone says but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

True. And a lot of the DMOZ editors here seem to have an issue with gworld as a person. I myself don't need to agree with you to be for your ability to voice yourself openly and honestly.

Forgive me for being out of topic, but I just remembered meeting gworld on another forum where an editor was the moderator and every thread of mine he posted in got deleted. What gets me is the arrogance to make a decision over what I should be able to read and what not.

Anyways, so tell us more, Jim. So far you're only hinting

This would be your chance to once and for all overcome the communication barrier ;)

Several editors have a problem with anyone who doesnt agree with them. I guess since another low post editor gave me red rep ( 2 point deduction ) and didnt have the balls to sign their name I guess now we have to treat them as they do us on RZ...Red rep for most of them. I will say though that some of the editors come in here and try to communicate but several of them dont like the fact that we speak our minds here and disagree with them.

Its sad to think that people cant communicate without acting in malise because someone doesnt agree with them.

Right, which is why communication of DMOZ - Webmasters is pretty much the poorest I have ever seen.

I say we try to set a record and have a DMOZ editor thread stop before 10 pages! If you agree please dont respond. :)

The resource zone should be shut down and the traffic to that domain forwarded to DP DMOZ section.

I have an old site with 8 listings. I never submitted them either. Sometimes old sites have a lot of listings. I bet the domain expired for autopictures and some spammer got it.

I don't see the big deal here really.
