If you had a name that you came up with that you wanted to use as a company as a brand, which TLD's would you take? which do you consider the most imortant?

Edit: oops, this should be in the other domain name forum

.com is viewed as the "most important" due to the fact that most/99% always think of .com when a name is mentioned, so they will most likely check .com first.

Apart from that, .net, .org comes in next and very good .info domains can be very brandable as well.

I'm surprised that .info in considered good.
I thought that .us would be more important than .info or .mobi

some countries blocked .us for some "reasons".

actually for most domains, the content counts more. As long as you dont get random L/C domains with no meaning or weird, you can build a site and get known.

Yeah I know the content counts the most. I was going to use some of the other domains as URL forwarding to the main site.
I also thought that .tv would be more important?

if it is simply just URL forwarding, there are some doubt in getting your domain (no matter how good) to appear and rank better on search engines.

.tv is only good if you are planning to advertise on tv or related to television networks. But most people use it for real ads.

    Oh okay

Well I was also thinking about how other people might steal my domain name with a different TLD.

    Buy a domain TLD first.

Then slowly buy other TLDs. (if possible buy of all .com, .net, .org, .info at once)

Plus if you wish to dispute, (rare if the domain name is not your brand), you can always show you purchased .com or .extension first/earlier than the second buyer with other TLD.
