What are poison words?

What are poison words? can any one help to know this

 

Where have you heard it?

 

i got the this word from one of SEO consultant who had reviewed my site and did not explain me throughly

 

i think there are keywords like "c*ild p0rnography" or related

 

Exactly don't know. Might be somehow related to pornography or ... A bit confusing one!

 

Poison words are basically keywords that search engines may devalue your pages for and drop rankings if they find them on your site. They are usually adult or spam related and signify to the search engines that the page is of low value.

 

Poison words are those words which hurt your page rank and get your site so deep in search engines results. These words might be adults type and those visitors who are using adult filters will not be able to see your site and this will will automatically decrease your site traffic. Your site title and url should not include these type of words because these are the places which are much promptly consider by search engines

Yep agree - anything with 'Paris Hilton' would probably get you zero'd too...

poison words are those words that

Poison well tells SE that certain page has low value. This is also known as stop words that decreases your rankings

 

How about some examples. Anyone know some generic examples? Like "FREE" or things like that?

 

Sample poison words are the following: Bookmarks, Links, Resources, Directory, Search Engine, Forum, BBS, in their singular and plural forms are known poison words. UBB, BBS, Ebay, and all variations on the paid to surf program keywords.

Poison words also known as Stop word are common words, or words considered by search engines to be irrelevant, are left out by search algorithms. Examples are "and", "the," etc. Generally, a stop word in a query is treated as a "wild card;" that is, the returned results usually won't be exactly the same as if the word had been left out of the query entirely.

 

Poison word is not necesary poisonous as such, but it may get poisonous if it is used in the title, or url or if it is used many times...There is a decent post abot this issue here.

Google Adsense ads won't be shown on a page, if you have Adsense stop words on it.

Stop words= words ignored by searches
Poision words = words that hurt you (debatable)

Ive always heard discussions on so called poision words.. but i dont believe in it to much.. unless you overuse the words or they are totally irrelevant..

cause look for insteance the word forum how can it be a poision word when so many forum rank number 1 dp for example. if "forum" really hurt your rankings wouldnt dp and other be buried in the listing..

I do know that some words can hurt you if they are of an adult nature cause we all know that adult content is filterd by default on the searches..

Other then that there is absoutly no evedence that any search engine penilizes for so called poision words..
