Alexa Snapshot of website?

Does anyone know how Alexa does the website snapshots? My site is still not up. Still says Picture coming soon. It has been close to a year now since my site has been online.

way down at the bottom of the page you see a link:

"Correct errors and omissions in this listing."

there you find:

"Update Thumbnail Image of " ... your domain . com
click
it may usually take up to 2 days to have the thumbnail updated,
you may want to check the thumbnail either at google results or alexa site
I have recently experienced errors with totally wrong display
if so just update again

you also see your INFO as displayed on alexa next to thumbnail,
you update it or create it by creating ONLINE by editing an duplooading the:
info.txt
file as explained step by step on alexa's site on that page

btw
alexa only is of value if as many people as possible use the alexa toolbar
as long as your traffic is lower than top 10k you most likely get very random results

 

All my sites snapshots were updated automatically with a Month of starting the websites.

BTW did you submit your site to Alexa?

As Hans said, doing it manually is the quickest. They do "self discover" but the process seems really slow.

alexa.com/data/details/contact_info?url=whatever.com

Just replace "whatever.com" with your domain name.

Whenver I make a change to my site I just jump in here, hit "update thumbnail" and within a few days it's refreshed.

Also, you can update your contact info via their online tool at:
alexa.com/data/details/editor?type=contact


As for their "see other sites owned" feature, i contacted them once because the info was wrong. They mentioned something about how they get it from domain registars, and I dont know how often they update.

Download their tool bar and visit your page. They will get it at some point .
