Everybody seems to be going for pagerank but what does that actually do for your website? I used to run a blog that had a 0 pagerank and was getting the top ten in Google for some pretty decent keywords and phrases. I also used to run a Myspace layouts site that had a pagerank of 3 and had an Alexa ranking of about 8,000,000!!!! If people think that pagerank will get them tons of traffic through Google, they may be wrong.
Pagerank really means absolutely nothing these days. (except maybe for paid link pricing - but Google is even cracking down on that with pagerank penalties) Google rarely updates it (every 3-6 months) and it is usually not an indication of rankings. Webmaster put too much focus on pagerank and I think that this is a big mistake. I recommend that you not obsess over pagerank. It is becoming more and more irrelevant every day.
Page rank only an indication of how many links pointing to your site in general . and i think you know the importance of external links with anchor text .
Well, Page rank plays an important role in goole rankings. If you analyze top results, you can find they ahve very good page rank too. So, page rank in another factor that decide your rank.
please understand: pagerank is simply an indicator of how often a site (or blog, for that matter) will get crawlled - nothing more, and even that is just an estimate as we don't get to see the real pagerank as google sees it, only a snapshot updated at the frequency chosen by google (normally like every 3 months or so)
Page rank can be interpreted as a percentage of your overall internet presence with 0 being almost none and 10 being excellent. Since the values change exponentially low PR numbers will usually not make any difference. But if you have a PR8 site, you are guaranteed to have a lot of visitors too.
PageRank Explained PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page's value. In essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B. But, Google looks at considerably more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; for example, it also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves "important" weigh more heavily and help to make other pages "important." Using these and other factors, Google provides its views on pages' relative importance. Of course, important pages mean nothing to you if they don't match your query. So, Google combines PageRank with sophisticated text-matching techniques to find pages that are both important and relevant to your search. Google goes far beyond the number of times a term appears on a page and examines dozens of aspects of the page's content (and the content of the pages linking to it) to determine if it's a good match for your query. Info. Source link http://www.google.com/technology/ See that.. So lets not forget Google does claim to use it as a factor in search results. How big a factor is it? That is disputable but it being a factor is a fact according to google anyway. You may have pr0 and out rank a pr5 but mabye thats due to your better onpage seo ect.. Page rank is just 1 factor of many..
To some it is money because of selling and buying sites with PR.. It is because of Link popularity of the sites, that's PR...
Page Rank still counts today : For Link Sellers- yes For Link exchangers- yes Every industry requires a common yardstick for participants to be measured by, and here , it is page rank. Unless and until somebody comes up with a better alternative, Page Rank is here to stay. It has Google's backing, and that is something on the internet. Does your ranking depend on pagerank ? Not really, but you will generally see high Page Rank sites rank well. Building links with relevant anchor text does help in improving your Serps, and those very links give you a bit of pagerank at the same time . That does not mean that low page rank sites cannot rank- they surely can, with the right amount of effort.
Nothing except for link exchange. Some webmasters required PR if you want to have a link exchange with them.
For the most part, yes, PageRank is pointless. However, Google does update it constantly, but keeps the information that it collects internal and releases that information every few months instead. So what you're really seeing in the PR checkers and toolbars is just a snapshot of how "popular" the page was the last time that Google updated the public record. And yes, Webmasters (those who are responsible for maintaining Web sites) really do put too much focus into it. However, it's not that surprising, especially considering how advertisers use it to measure how popular a Web page is anyway. That's not entirely true. As I just told gyutae (whom I have a healthy respect for I might add - he's a good guy who knows his stuff), advertisers also use it as a yardstick when trying to determine which sites to advertise their products and services on. Wrong. PageRank is used by Google for one thing and one thing only. To determine how popular a Web site is by the number of links pointing to it. Even then, PageRank is calculated on a per-page level rather than an overall site level. Yes, that ranking will eventually transfer to other pages, but that doesn't happen overnight. I wouldn't say presence, but instead the number of links pointing back to your pages. You're funny.
pagerank did nothing..... just an advantage to sell link...... but, if we sell link, it will lower your serp... believe me.
