Which is better to do...?

    Hi all,

Am about to set up a new website with blog included.

Here's my question: In terms of SEO - which one is better to use:

    • Joomla with any blog internalised (essentially in a frame)
    • Or setup a separate blog site and link back to the main site.

I'm thinking that if a blog is wrapped up inside a big CMS system like Joomla - the blog itself might not be as visible to the Search Engines.

    Thanks all.
    Sean

Yes, you're right. Incorporating a blog into Joomla could be a nightmare, in terms of setting up now and maintaining later on.

I suggest you set up the blog separately, but still within the design of your main site. You can use yoursite.com/blog to receive all of the SEO benefits from your main site. If you want to separate things even more, then I would go with a subdomain, blog.yoursite.com. The search engines will consider this almost like a separate site, but you are able to still have your main site structure.
