Google seems to be going in every direction; advertising, searches, phones, blah, blah, blah...

If Google came out with an OS (operating system), would you use it?

Especially if it were as comparatively good as other Google products.

If it was any good... yes... well worth a try even if it's just to make some competition to Microsoft...

An OS by google? Prolly, thats where Microsoft has already capitalised. People hate Windows, but they cant live without it :D, Tough time for google, it would be.

No Google OS for me. Google is worth a Search Engine only, and developments related to that.

If google made a nice Linux based package like Ubuntu, I might consider it. I wouldn't use anything I couldn't compile myself from google though :D

I don't think I will. I feel uncomfortable with Linux.

As Google are making the Openhandsetalliance.com OS for phones I think the answer for me is yes. I know that Symbian have said it's just another Linux based OS and it's not going to be any competition I think they're wrong...

I'm hoping that lots of developers will sign-up and write interesting and innovative code.. even though it looks like the only option will be to write in Java...

The $10,000,000 that's up for grabs is going to make sure that they get some good applications!

    Cheers, p.

    That would be good too.

Maybe an OS is in the works already...

Could you imagine how much Microsoft would start to sweet if Google jumped into the OS market?

What if they decided to buy out Apple for their OS and make it opensource or have some variant of Linux?!

On the other hand, Google would then be even more powerful. They could then dictate whatever they want. They would probably KNOW almost everything about the users too!!

I'd use it, but not exclusively. As a web developer, it only makes sense that I would at least become familiar with it, just as I would an alternative browser. If it becomes popular, a percentage of my clients and/or a percentage of my client's customers might be using it - so I need to be able to adapt.
