Shawn, can you give a few minutes of thought to different screen colors, both in the current OPTI and future OPTI's. I'm not sure if it's even possible, but would be a great feature to have, maybe selectable on one of the screens or definable in prefs. Feature: Different colored screens to help reps quickly identify status customers Red background = Past due / owes money Green background = in collections Purple = has leased hardware / contract etc. Benefit: Less confusion on customers that cancel but still owe money fewer collection problems fewer customers that get away with leased hardware (wireless, modems, routers, etc) We often loose track of customers who have leased/borrowed equipment from us that we never get back because there is no real good way to track that right in the customer account. Anyway, just wanted to throw that idea out. John
A couple more examples following up on the previous post. On master/slave accounts, the current little reddish text button that says "Group of" is easily overlooked, there could be a brown backgound if it's a slave or sub account, black if it's blacklisted, yellow if they need a callback, violet for VOIP etc...just brainstorming after completing another tower. What do you think, is it possible, could be similar in the new PHP rewrite maybe (how is that going btw)?
How about customizable skins? With ability to create your own, you could even do themes. Just brainstorming, anyone seeing this or like/need these features...Shawn, are you there?
Have you ever seen a whole screen of red? Red is a color developers use quite sparingly, mainly as accent color. Shannon
Yes, I agree on red being very bold, but it's not really a matter of which colors to use as much as being able to quickly identify type issues that are not reflected in the "Account Type" or class...in other words, it changes dynamically based on certain criteria; being overdue, having leased equipment (which is becoming more common), a sub or slave account (which is currently displayed of course, but most of these things are hard to spot unless you are looking for it). I'm not sure a background color change is the only way to do this, obviously Shawn has integrated all of this already in current versions. I'm just looking for a way to improve it (at least to consider alternatives for the rewrite as these types of thing would be much easier in a web-based scenario using PHP/HTML). Shawn has probably already thought of these things, I just don't know about it yet since the whole rewrite is not really openly discussed yet. Any updates on the rewrite status?
