I have been telling myself to start optimizing my arcades for the SERPs. Today I finally did some on site stuff. I added h1, h2, h3s to my pages and added a title to all of my internal links. I want to get some good rankings because currently I am getting 500+ UV per week day and 90% of that are direct visits. It took me forever to get that and I want to make sure it will keep growing. I am about to edit all of the images on my arcade with ALTs and TITLEs. Is it a bad idea to have all image ALTs set to one 1 or 2 keywords? Will Google not like that? Or would it just be better to use the name of the game? Also please tell me any other way I can increase my rankings. I am terrible at finding places to submit my link and I don't know where to find out how popular or competitive a keyword is.
You image alts should be what the image is, not be used for keyword stuffing. The real purpose of alts is for people using text browsers and screen readers.
text in alt should describe what the image is, yes it is advisable to add keywords on alt since SE can't read images but don't overused it. Do first proper on page then link build your target keyword in order to have a better SERP. make sure that your target KW has lot of searches a month
Thanks for that. Very helpful. If you need more info on my arcade here it is. Alexa: 495,113 PR: 3 Google Indexed: 2100 Links to the domain: 4441 (According to Yahoo) Domain: KingdomArcade.com Age: Launched May 5th 2007 How exactly would I go about optimizing my arcade on site for the keywords I choose?
Get inbound links from other sites, use the keywords & key phrases you want to rank for as your anchor text. Make sure to get inbound links to more than just your homepage.
a good keyphrase for arcades will be - free online games free flash games Even a 100+ ranking will get you 500-1000 UV/month for these keywords, imagine what front page ranking will get you
Is overture just for Yahoo? And why doesn't it show results for terms ending in s? I did a search for "free internet game" and it only had 71,000 results. But when I change it to "free internet games" it has 258,000. I don't know what kind of number should scare me away from targeting a certain keyword. Since I am just starting should I go for ones with less that 100,000 results?
Overture gets their data from the query made in yahoo. No more! No less free internet games is different from free internet games, it simply says that free internet games has lot of searches a month or more used by people when they are searching
