Okay, freshdames.com is the very first website that I ever built a little over a year ago. It's been a fun ride, mainly because of the lessons learned in building the site, trying to learn online marketing, SEO, et al.

The site and its subdomains now enjoy over 12,000 visitors a day and over 2,000,000 pages views a month so it's an effort that has paid off in that aspect for sure. Further, it generates a decent little supplemental income for AdSense and other advertising.

Here's my issue that requires some help though:

Every so often, I get an email like this:

How would I determine what would be a good asking price?

IF I were to sell, how do I go about doing so in a secure way that won't see my site stolen?

Do I have the potential buyer select an escrow service and make them foot the bill?

Any suggestions, comments, past experiences, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

depending on the price, escrow may be an option.

As far as selling that is an interesting issue. To save the SERPS, a 301 redirect would be needed, but that doens't really help the owner. You will also loose any backlinking you have generated, while the new owner will see a benifit from this.

The profit loss from selling would seem to be quite high for you, there would need to be payment to cover the lost revenue until you generate traffic again if you want to move the content along with enough to cover additional work on your part.

I would start off itemizing the following:

    -current revenues
    -current cost to date
-time spent on efforts to generat efforts
-how long do you feel it will take to get back to the place you are at now.

wrmineo, I wouldn't waste my time... this sounds 99% like the old domain appraisal scam. Someone says they are interested in your domain/site. Then they will say that they would like an appraisal, and "recommend" some site. After you get your appraisal, you never hear about them again.

I guess you can figure out who is the owner of that appraisal site ;)
