webmasterexchange.net - Anyone used it before?

Discussion in 'Link Development' started by SEO Jeff, Oct 31, 2004.

Hey all has anyone used http://www.webmasterexchange.net yet from this forum? Just wondering what everyone thought of it. I signed up the otherday and so far it's an awesome webmaster link exchange thing. I have it pointing to my forum as my forum as low PR but I think it's a very useful link exchange system for webmasters myself.

    Any thoughts on it,

How so? It's only for webmaster sites it says. No unrelated links are going out and they do check your site before they accept it. No sites in there are unrelated.

It's ran by 9MP - one of the big dogs.

Any time I see something like the following (from their FAQ), I smell a link farm. Now, it might not be, but it sure sounds like one...

Well if you visit my forum - http:// www.mi-websolutions.com /forum/ and look at the bottom those are related links I am linking to. So I do not see it as a link farm. Also it's been online for more then a year so if it was Google would have done something I'd think.

No, I don't see it that way (although Google might, but detection is another story). It all depends upon how webmasterexchange has it set up (and since they have next to no info about it, i have to guess - and guessing is bad - but lack of info is suspicious in and of itself). In any case, a typical link farm has all of the sites all showing a list of other's sites (with the list being the same on each site). There's the difference with the coop network. What gets shown on my site will likely not be exactly what is shown on someone else's. And they constantly change. So the pattern isn't there. Now if webmasterexchange is doing it similar to coop, then it might be a good thing. Thing is, they don't go into details on their site, so I made an assumption. I could be wrong. Just how it looks - or smells - to me.

    I agree with dazzlindonna!

Looks spammy as only spam can! No real information, just the sign up links...

TWO FAQs... I've got another one for them - can you guess what it is?

These kinds of farms G is sniffing out and putting a hurting on them. If it looks to good to be true it most likely is. I would be careful. Since you posted the URL in this thread, there may be a good chance one of our G spys will see it and have some fun...lol has anyone seen the G spy today?

There has been a lot of this happening in the real estate industry. I know of two websites in the tops of G that have lost over 2k BLs and they belong to a link farm.

Thanks all for the review. I guess that means they will not see my code on my site.
