I am thinking about buying Aaron Wall’s SEO Book. For those of you have purchased it and read it is it worth the $79?

    Thanks in advance :)

No, I don't recommend the book. Not only am I not a fan of SEO information you have to pay for (since it's already available online for FREE), but "SEO" ebooks such as Aaron's tend to be full of theories, hypotheses and even misinformation at the best of times and can be downright wrong in places.

Yes, I don't think I want to buy that book either... There are lots of SEO informations around the web which will give you the facts not just theories and hypotheses... or even misinformations.

SEObook is great- IMO. Even for non-beginners.

I believe it's the only SEO info I've ever purchased.

    The book is very informative.

You can probably find all of the information for free around the internet but its nice to have it all in one place for easy reference.

It will likely save you a month or 2 of reading and searching.

Did you even bother to read my post, or was your reply a knee-jerk reaction? I didn't slam Aaron's book. I only slammed books like his - in other words, SEO e-books you have to pay for to get. I'm sorry you feel the way you do, but most commercial (read: you have to pay for) SEO e-books are full of half-truths, hypotheses, misinformation and outright lies, which means I flat out won't recommend them. It's a shame that Aaron (who IS selling something by the way, even if a lot of people trust him and consider him to be the second coming of Christ) and his book gets lumped into that category by most people who really know what they're talking about when it comes to SEO (and can prove it) as well as those who think that the best SEO resources are the free ones (such as Chris Beasley's SEO Guide and the Search Engine Optimization FAQ over at the SitePoint forums for instance) since they're dedicated to focusing on the fundamentals and ignoring anything that might cause a budding SEO consultant, hobbyist or future expert harm.

If I really wanted to slam Aaron's book (if I were to feel it was justified) I'd waste the $79 and purchase a copy, then point out all the things that may or may not be wrong in there. But unlike some people, I'm here to help others, not tarnish their reputations (though that does not mean I won't correct someone when they're wrong, but when I do I try my best to explain why they were wrong and what they can do to correct their errors before they become mistakes).

The best way is ofcourse do it by urself... Just read the articles from blogs and other related sites....... He just put all them together..... actually all those tips are available here in DP...... but u need to find it..... If you are lazy then get a copy of that book......

Dan, I've read a bunch of your posts and learned a ton of information from you. As a newer SEO, hearing your critique about Aaron's book would be of huge value to me, so it is justified. And I don't think that you'd be tarnishing his reputation, so long as it's constructive criticism.
