Can we put a character limit on the anchor text?

Not annoyed with you, just with how much of my time the coop network takes.

Yeah, I can imagine. You should charge an 1-time fee to enter the co-op, and then hire someone to administrate if for you. ;) I'm sure most of us using the network that have seen the benefit would be more than happy to pay a co-op fee (assuming it to be reasonable, of course). ;)

Well, I'm not so much worried about the administration. It's not terribly difficult. The main thing for me right now is just reviewing the massive amount of new ads. I need to make it so that I can assign other people to be "ad reviewers".

One thing I'm starting to get a little worried about is the ad network is starting to outgrow the current hardware/server setup, so there is going to be a real cost that I'm going to have to foot of about $8,000-$9,000 for a new dedicated server for it that hopefully will never be outgrown.

Ahh... yeah, I can imagine it would eventually cause quite a server strain.

I don't know whether this would work or not, how about extra weight for ad reviewers?

Mmmm... takes away from the even divide of the ad network then if it's not based solely on the site itself.

Maybe the coop has grown beyond being free. I think a one-time fee is fair.

In terms of ad reviewers, another possibility is to give them a higher referral bonus to be reviewers.

No plans to charge for it. It takes away from it as a whole because the majority of people would never try it out if it had an up-front fee.

I'd think having a couple people helping out would take some work load off you...

On another note.. nothing against SEO Blog, but I think this anchortext is a bit much:

"Create free blog / weblog / online journal / diary"

I just found this thread when looking for new indexed pages in Google, and realised that I had committed a sin in placing an ad with all capitalised anchor text. Sorry! I can see how it can mess up pages.

    It won't happen again.

...and if you do need an extra pair of eyes to check new ads, I'd be only too please to help...it's the least I can do

The KISS principle is best when creating your ads.

    You have to think:
What would it look like on my own page?

Would I write a newspaper article that potentially thousands of people are going to see and write it in all caps or all lower case? Use caps properly.

Is someone really going to look for a search term that is this long?

I saw yesterday someones ad that was so long it actually was cut off. Look at your ad before enabling it. It will show a cutoff in the control panel.

All of the things discussed takes away from the credibility of both the website that's displaying the ad and the link it points to.

That's all I can think of for now.

And Shawn; I'd be happy to be a reviewer for you!
