I've never heard of this site before now but am a bit confused by how you all are saying it worked. Samantha you said that you both upload content and download content yet the content is not hosted on their servers? So where do you upload it to? Or are you just adding a link to where people can download it from your pc.. Sorry, I'm slightly confused.. LOL

I actually do watch alot of movies online before they come out in theaters or before they are released on DVD but I visit many different sites for that (around 25 so-far), though I have 5 favorites that I mostly use.


I guess that invite system they use really didn't help too much, seeing as they are shut down and I'm guessing the main reason for the refferal system is to keep the site on the down low. I even tried to look at past archived screen shots from the Internet Archive but I get a "blocked site error".. So it must be serious.. When I do a more extensive search I get these as similar visited sites:

bitoogle.com, torrentbox.com, thebeehive.info, suprnova.org, oink.me.uk, mybittorrent.com, brightercomputing.com, boxtorrents.com, bittorrenttopsites.com, torrentreactor.net I don't use any of those.. yet...But if that's not good I also have a list of about 20 others which I use that I can send you.. LOL

I hope it comes back for ya'll ... If not, don't worry, trust me there are so many other resources available.

I agree and this is one thing that I will admit to being a hipocrite about. I do watch for free where others pay.. I am torn, I know what I am doing is legally wrong however I feel that the laws need to be adjusted.

I wish all movie companies and musicians would take a cue from RadioHead and let the consumer pay what the consumer thinks it is worth..

 

You don't upload it to anywhere. Once you make a torrent, the file you want to upload becomes available to users, and once they click download it will upload from your computer straight to theirs.

 

I really hope I don't sound toooooo naive but what if the person who added the original content has there computer off, can there content still be downloaded or do people have to wait until they turn the PC back on?

 

To be honest I don't have much sympathy for them. They made a killing off of other people's content, that's called stealing.

The gravy train doesn't last forever.

 

Depends if you have uploaded to any seeders yet or not.

For example, I upload something and Bob starts downloading, as soon as Bob finishes his download he will be automatically be assisting in uploading the file to others. So you could have your computer off aslong as other people are seeding. If both of your computers are off, people will be put in a queue until you start uploading again.

There will always be somewhere to download free stuff as far as I can remember there always has. You use one site it gets shut down and another one springs up usually by the same people under a differant name!

 

I am sure demonoid will be back soon, so don't worry. 1 or 2 days are reasonable. Maybe they should choose offshore hosting...just a guess.

And I also agree with GreenGambler. There are so many torrent sites out there! Do Your research and You will surely find the torrent You are looking for.
