Streaming Radio (online radio), Has any one had success?

    I have some friends that are telling me the benifits of website promotion through streaming radio.

    It makes sence, the streaming radio player comes up, there is a link to your site, then the comercial directs people to the link on the radio player.

    I want to know if anyone has either:

    1) Launched a streaming radio campaign and had cost effective results

    2) Launched a streaming radio campaign and had no results

    3) point me to best practice case studies surrounding streaming radio

    Thanks, any advice is appreciated.

    What i have tried was streaming real time movies and adding commercials for my old blog. It worked perfectly! I mean without even marketing my streaming channel , i had a concurrent listener rate of about 12 people! If you guys want a cheap way to have tons of commercial time on channels like myne PM me

    Internet radio is now being come down hard on by RIAA, ASCAP, and BMI because artists don't receive royalties for the broadcast of their music. Have to be careful a few places have already been shut down because they can't pay the VERY large fines

    I checked on a few of them. Their cost is way too damn much!

    If you were to break it down, we're talking over $2 a click!

    This is why not many do it. They instead record themselves through such sites, like Audacity, and then they make it live at a certain time and date. I'm going to be doing that soon.

    Why have radio?

    "3) point me to best practice case studies surrounding streaming radio"

    I couldn't find any. Then again, I didn't look very hard. Too much, and I can do it myself.

    Good luck with it.

    wow i didnt know it was that much. What i did was have a link to your site at a bottom of the video and every 30 minutes their would be your commercial. I did that for 15 dollars a week. I thought a lot of stations did that for about 15 dollars

    Perry Rose,

    I am offered Streaming radio on a CPM basis with no CPC for click throguhs on my tile ads (small banner on the radio player). Streaming TV is a different story.

    I figure that with a $30 CPM rate for local online radio, my cost per impression is $.03. Talk about online brand building in a local market place.

    Thanks for your digging! If i find any best practice case studies I will be sure to post!

    :)

    It depends on what site you are looking for promotion. My experience was with promoting sites for teens - i.e proxy, avatar and myspace resouce sites.

    I paid a famous radio www.habbox.com 10 $ for a month including the link on the radio page and I got a 18% increase in visitors in the first week. Also members had signed up and stayed in the site for more than 10 minutes each. This also got my Adsense earnings go up by a coupla 10 $. It was a 25 second commercial and they promised to air it every 45 minutes so it was a great value. I got the recording done in a local studio by a professional.

    I do not suggest advertising in radios which have "Advertise in our radio" sign. I suggest you email a radio manager of some of those famous online game fansites ( I emailed www.habbox.com ).

    These sites usually carry no ads as they are run by teens who are mostly clueless about adsense and stuff. So they would be elated to get paid.

    These guys have atleast 30 users in GMT evening and may go up to a 80 during week ends.

    Conclusion : It depends where you advertise. For more radio fansites about habbo.uk , google habbo Radio fansites.

    Rep ++ Highly Appreciated :D If you found this useful please Rep me :D

    If you create your own music, you don't have to pay the "other" artists anything. I love streaming music, especially Indie music. As much as I like the classics, after hearing them the thousandth time, I am ready to hear something fresh. Besides, some of the best music I have ever heard is Indie music.

    So, to be as profitable as possible, create and stream your own music.

    Your talking about Streaming TV ads?

    Here are my CPC thoughts on Streaming radio at
    * $1000 = 33,000 online radio commercials ( $.03 per commercial)
    * 33,000 commercials at 4% click through = 1320 clicks
    * $.75 per visitor

    "Your talking about Streaming TV ads?"

    No.

    I'm looking at it like this, correct me if you think I'm wrong:

    Bottom line...you spent $1,000 for 1,320 visitors.

    So I guess I was wrong about thr $2 a click. In this instance, it is a little over $1???

    Wouldn't it make more sense to do this?: Record yourself on a weekly basis, put it in your site, and then throw ads all over the place stating, more or less about your, "radio program." ... Even though it really isn't.

    Would be a little under $1 per click

    I like your Idea :) Have you tried it? I think it is along the same line as streaming radio, but down a different path.

    I am going to PM you the link to the streaming radio station that i am thinking of using.

    I thought about doing it. I don't know.

    I don't run a content site and depend on repeat visitors to click on ads in it. I sell a couple of books, and I am not to keen on giving stuff away on a, consistent basis, so it may not be up my alley.

    Got your e-mail.
