Marketing is a constant process if you are serious with your websites. SEO, link building etc etc lot of work needs to be done if not daily, quite often.

How much time should be spent on marketing. If you like to share your routines, if any, that would be nice.

I'm a blogger. Most people would think that bloggers spend more time blogging than anything else they do on the internet. If that's true for you (it doesn't even have to be a blog), don't expect your blog/website to be successful. Webmasters should spend at least 60-80% of their time marketing your website.

Rule of thumb: spend 80% of your time and resources on marketing, 20% on everything else.

We did the reverse in our first business and although it did well... it would have done SO much better had we poured the majority of our time and resources on marketing.

Creating a product or a website is very easy... it is the marketing and driving website traffic to your website that takes the majority of your time/work.

I agree that you should be marketing your site daily and try and do one new thing to drive traffic to your site while maintaining what you know works.

That is a good rule 80/20. Now let's list times for different types of marketing activity

Marketing is the most difficult thing. I have seen crappy sites get away getting popularity just because of marketing. While lot of good ones stay in dark.

Now if the good writers just got together with the good marketers, they'd make a killing! I've used the 80/20 rule for about five years now. Once you start to make money; if you like to write, pay someone else to do your marketing. If you like to market your site, pay someone else to do the writing. Invest your earnings, don't just spend them!

I spend about 2 hours everyday blogging, article marketing, forum posting and social bookmarking. The key is to be consistent no matter what marketing strategy you are using!

At the end of the week, I will find good JVs and Giveaways to participate in to grow my list.

Once I get a site set up, I spend more time on marketing than on anything else. I can't give you a percentage, but it is well over half of my time.

To give you an idea of the importance of marketing, let me make a statement, "What good is a site if no one knows about it?"

I generally make a routine which one I would do what day of the week. That way things stay organized.
There is a saying I heard like to tell you guys "Without marketing is like looking at a beautiful girl in the dark".
