...bad things will happen to you I don't know about you, but I think EVERY internet Marketer should have a blog. Ever since I started blogging, I get more ideas because I write almost everything thats important I learn on my blog... ...and is making me more money. I also manage to get sticky traffic and made lots of new friends Here are the top 7 reasons it is a good idea to start blogging now: 1. A blog establish or enhance your authority by showing - not telling. 2. What you say on a blog can echo around the blogosphere - bringing you more traffic. 3. The smartest bloggers know a good post when they see one and love to link to them! People love to link to blog post...how many really link to sale page or forum pages on blogs? 4. Search engines have a terrible habit of sending people to content - not your sales pitches. Your blog is full of info and it is what people are looking for. 5. How many people StumbleUpon or Digg a forum post or a sales letter? People add your post to social sites if they like it - which bring you more traffic. 6. Instant feedback, reciprocity and commitment. You can communicate with your visitors right there, which is important in building trust and they might just like you and buy from you 7. RSS (Really Simple Syndication) Feeds People can subscribe to you through lots of ways.
The most attracting reason for me to start blog is it help to interact with users. well second one is SE loves blog.
I don't blog, I've only tried marketing on forums and craigslist so far, and I've had pretty nice results. I've looked over blogs and the whole procedure, and one thing I thought of... couldn't you come out with one really good unique article dedicated AND named after a product you're trying to market and post it to a bunch of diffirent high ranking blog sites and article sites and build a bunch of profiles on social networking and then just start marketing your product like that. wouldn't you get more view just because you'd have multiple sites all leading to the same destination showing up in directory searches?
You got a point but some business models required to interact with site visitors. Blog increase the value of your site. Approach you are talking about helps for product marketing. Different individual search for different topic related to same product. Blog and article marketing has its own importance.
Some of those are good points, Sean. But, for me, I don't blog. I have been asked why I don't for TheList.FM, but I'm just not a blog kind of a person. Practically all who go to blogs are looking for free shit. They come, read a little bit, and then leave. And many times you have poured your time, heart and soul in that day's entry. Although I'm a bit of a goof off, ~ I still consider myself a business man, and smart businessmen don't give stuff away on a continious basis. Having a blog is giving stuff away on a continous basis. I'd rather put my time towards advertising. The goal is to make more than minimum wage, while at the same time working less hours. Unless it is just as a fun hobby??? Then, again, maybe I am missing something here, Sean ol boy? If, IF I did do this, I would only do it, say, once a week. Do it on Fridays. Maybe call it "Fridays With The List." It would be worth it then, because I am putting in only a couple of hours that tweek, while still, hopefully, retaining the readers. I don't mean to be discouraging. I just look at it from a business point of view.
Yeah I'm thinking like I write one article on say tupperware for example, then open up a squidoo account, blogspot etc kind of accounts, give the blog a very generic specific name, but keyword potent and then just repeat on multiple article sites... do you think just developing a good article for a product on a bunch of sites that come up in directory listings and letting them ruminate will produce visits... or is it essential to market the blogsite/article sites or do they kind of market themselves?
The biggest reason I blog is because I want to express myself any time and anyhow I want to. It's not really so much about marketing for me as much as that, but I do realize it eventually helps with marketing too. But then again I don't really sell any products since my sites are community and content oriented (discussions, opinion articles, reviews, tutorials, that kind of stuff). Blogging is an awesome way to think aloud and even get some feedback on those thoughts, no matter what they are. Hence my personal blog is very general and open ended, it's one place where I can really say anything. Of course, my personal blog is therefore not very targeted, but it builds my online personality nevertheless, and as I continue succeeding on the web more people will be attracted to my blog, right? Just some thoughts. Cheers
Awesome post Sean. I definately agree. All Internet consultants should have blogs. Blogs also increase the VALUE of your website.
so well ranked in many search engines that if you target a keyword or phrase which is related to the post or more likely related to your blog you can indirectly end up high on search results in google. I'm talking first page here! Bottom line is it pays to take a little extra time to search engine optimize your forum posts for a keyword! Make sure you include the keywords you are targeting in the sentence you form for your title and mention it also in the first paragraph of the posts body. Then just write away normally.
wow. GREAT points. guess i need to start my blog now. i've known this for awhile, but i've been avoiding it, but your words really encouraged me to do this. wonderful insights.
I agree with all your points...just seems that whenever I get to the keyboard, I get writers block and can't get more than a sentence or two.
I like to blog for a couple reasons. It gets things off my chest about certain issues, and at the same time I could be selling something without it seeming like I'm selling something. I'm with a network marketing company that has great products, coupons, magazines and its own affiliate program. I've learned a lot from them...and it's free to join and you never have to buy anything. __________________
Great points about having a blog. That's what I'm beginning to do right now. It helps me write more. Good thread. Thanks, Kate
Blogging can be boring sometime I guess... It is easy to get excited at the beginning and then doze off...
