I think google updated its back links today. Not much of an increase for my sites though.

Not sure why this was stickied... I see no answers here. I wrote an article explaining what happened to the PR and called it "what is REALLY going on with Google PR in 2007"

It is backed up by Dan Theis, Brad Fallon and other industry leaders and better yet by fact... look into it yourself and prove me wrong if you can.

l think google go by the content surrounding the link and the way it is presented on the particular page..You should better write the quality content in comments or posts or whatever you are doing..on those PR pages....and mind they are not from the non relevant pages..May be you have some links on some spammy sites . or on link farms..earlier...to which google reacts harshly in this update....!
I think there might be some mistake on some general ground otherwise google doesn't penalise in that way...

FWIW, we had a significant and positive shift in the last day or so. We launched a key section of our site in April, linked from the PR7 home page. Since April, the core hub page of this section has kept a PR 0, and it's been right frustrating.

Today, finally, we see the toolbar PR update has landed. The home page remains a 7, but the PR for the core hub page of this new section has jumped from 0 to 6, and literally hundreds of pages below that have gone from 0 to between a 1 and a 4.

Needless to say, we are pretty pleased - or, will be if traffic and SERPS go up accordingly.

The PR shifts aren't getting to me at all, but the latest backlink update (in the last day or two) is a little bit confusing. For months Google barely updated my backlink count on one of my sites (showing a handful of links disappearing but never accounting for any of the new links replacing and surpassing those). Now, a day or two after the PR update happened, they're showing that site's backlinks at nearly double the number previously. It's not frustrating so much that they didn't account for months' worth of links before the update, but that they simply took so long to reflect the increases (it had barely moved in their records since the last PR update in the Spring) in general when so many others had been getting updates throughout that period. :( I just don't understand how exactly that happened. If I cared much about Google, I'd feel quite snubbed. :)

I actually have a few sites that went up!
As well as my real sites that went down which has more juice flowing than Google itself.
My worry is ... is this down to paid links?
The sites that went up were all related to the enviroment or green issues.
Is there now an agenda I ask.
Heavens knows how they are gonna judge porn sites? On breast size?

lol I actually forgot I had a "green" site, since I haven't updated in some time. Just checked and that went from 0 - 3, while my freelance writing site (updated all the time, lots of natural, relevant, quality backlinks in comparison, no link selling or buying, etc.) only went from 0 - 2.

Isn't it right to say that if the PR is an algo. The PR for a site can drop but it's value stay the same.

    e.g.

A site has a pr 1 and another 10, when another site has a 10, instead of them both sitting at the same, one would be slightly higher so they move one to a 9. The site's value hasn't changed, it's the bucnh of sites in the index reflecting the value of that PR that has.

After a few billion sites you can imagine how much the flick around when they are low PR sites we're talking about here most of the time.
