I saw one CL software where you can manage all your postings and even have auto posts set up. Do you guys recommend something like this? If yes, which software programs have you used? thanks.
Can you tell me what software? I have a doubt concerning the upload. Knowing that 2 similar ads won't go through, I was wondering how to handle that from a software point of view, without mentioning the catcha....
The bottom line is that, almost without fail, standard template affiliate sites don't work on Craigs. They generally get flagged and deleted too fast, or else you're posting in the wrong section and no one's interested. And straight-up affiliate links generally don't work either. And that's a good thing, because if everyone could just dump affiliate links on there, the place would be totally devoid of customers in short order. Don't trust any auto-posting software to work for long. Even if it correctly processes the catchpa, it'll still send up a red flag on the Craigslist end when a bunch of identical postings show up from the same IP to multiple cities. Good way to get IP banned. The only way to do it is submit manually, preferably from different IP addresses. Annoying but lucrative in some niches. If you're selling services, goods, or certain types of content, Craigslist is freaking awesome.
CL can give you lots of traffic, no matter which city or category you advertise in. Its free but not stable in terms of editorial processes. You can list one product for three months and when you renew it will be removed without reason. Also, when a listing expires and you try to renew, it can be disallowed. Traffic, great but consistency and reliability, no. I have seen sites placing high in MSN and even in yahoo after a week's listing in CL but not long, they will be gone without reason.
I had a very good program running with CL where I was doing manual posting each day into each major city in the services section. The ads were 100% legit with no scam or hidden fees, and it wasn't long before they banned the domain, IP, the ad itself. I know that posting outside your city is a violation of TOS, but it was providing a legit service, in the correct section, targeted to people looking for my service. Oh well, I've moved on to bigger and better things. I mean, I have found another way around it, but it isn't worth the time it takes...
Can anybody who is actually using craigslist to promote their websites share some additional info on how they do it? which categories to submit to for example? where would you promote a trading website(see signature) and a video sharing site? thanks
You can try webcosmo.com Unlike craigslist you can use the countrywide/statewide/local ad posting feature.
