    Hi Guys

I have a question, new to the whole Internet marketing thing, question i have is it simply worth buying into an established website or rather starting from scratch yourself?

    Cheers

    Hi, Welcome to DP.

    IMO,

First, always start from scratch yourself.
    • You will learn things you need to know before (risking getting ripped off while) buying 'established' sites.
    • It is rare to find a really good deal on a decent website.

Later, if you have money to work with.
    • Buying sites can save a lot of time...
    • ...if you're able to avoid the bad deals.

Good luck with your adventure. :)

If you have the money to purchase someone else's website then you have the money required to develop and promote a site that you have created yourself.

So I suggest starting a site yourself, you also get to complete control over how it is developed and can make sure it is done right.

I suggest starting from scratch, especially if you are still learning the ropes. There are many valuable lessons to be learned that could end up saving you tons of money in the long run. My advice is to invest the time now, and save the money forever.

p.s. be wary of those who advise you to purchase a site, especially if they have "just the thing you are looking for". Take my advice and learn from the ground up.

    Hi Guys

Thanks for the quick response. If im to start by myself where do you start?

My longer term goal is to own a few websites that would be able to generate say 10-20k per month in revenue. Is this feasible?

    Cheers

    Content
    Traffic
    Money

    • First, you add content on subjects you actually care about (fun hobbies, etc.)
    • Since, you have a passion for the subject, you will draw traffic.
    • Traffic brings money.

Edit: Actually making the websites is not really hard.
Good, original content is the key.

Yes, but don't let anyone call you crazy. :D

Check out xsitepro (dotcom) for a pretty simple to use web design package that was created for internet marketers. You can easily integrate Adsense etc. Good luck!

Depends on what type of site or community you are trying to start.

Also, keep in mind, when you 'outsource' you still need enough basic knowledge to find qualified people and be able to tell them exactly what you want.
    • You can find 'cheap labor' very easily, but communication is often a problem.

"one i dont have large amounts of time and two i dont have a number of the skills to build a site ie lack of knowledge about coding sites etc"

Sounds like you might make a really great client for somebody.
I'd advise you take some time to learn more before 'hiring people'.

I also recommend doing it yourself.

A bonus is you'll learn to code along the way!

    start from scratch.

but, before you get to start, make sure you are familiar to the IM world first. After that, you can choose your path.

    Be concentrate.
