Did you do any PPC for the website ? How many sales amounted to the $1600 in commissions ?

No PPC at all. All sales result from organic traffic from search engines.

I'm not sure how to get the number of sales that amounted to the total. If you could guide me through how to get that number in CJ, I'm happy to provide it.

 

Do I need to have a CJ account as well as ebay account for this? or is it sufficient to have a CJ account?

What about the items / products, do they update automatically? How do you add new products for instance - is it all done automatically?

If you have a CJ account, you can signup for the Ebay affiliate program. Thanks for the question, as this is something important I forgot to mention.

If you have a CJ account, then signing up for the Ebay program is just a formality. This site is already in the program, so upon sale, I'll remove the site from my account so the new owner can add it to their account.

 

...adn the products? How do they update? Do you update them manually? Or is it done through xml or another automated process?

They are updated automatically. Normally they would be updated every time a user visits, as the results are dynamically pulled in from ebay with each page request. On this site, I have a cache system in place, so that the results are cached for six hours. After six hours, new results are retrieved and cached again.

It requires no human intervention or maintenance. I check it every few weeks, just to make sure it's alive and well. Other than that, it's on auto-pilot.

How long have you been running this website in its present function? Has it always been a good performer? Was the domain yours since its initital registration and has it always been a site about selling jeep parts?

I believe I finished it towards the end of February this year.

Yes, once it got going, it's been doing very well. Obviously a new site takes a few months to get going, which is why I made stats from this summer. It had a few sales in the first few months, but not any more or less than a normal new site might.

The domain has not been used prior to this site. It originally belonged to a friend of mine who bought it with the intention of doing something with it, but decided not to. Rather than let it expire, he gave it to me. I've had it for several years now.
