Ok, I am selling my website and when I get a deal what do I do to avoid being scammed?

How much money would be involved? If it is enough, you should probably use escrow.

If you can arrange to get paid before transferring the website, that would be great for you, but the purchaser might have the same concern that you do, so that might not be a viable option.

Just take a serious buyer (itrader greater then 20), provide a free push to his account AFTER you received your payment.

I think that no one here will risk a reputation for a couple of bucks...

Agreed. I know that for me, my reputation is worth a whole lot more then $200. If you get into the $x,xxx range, you should start considering other options, but I would suggest you follow xino's suggestion above.

BTW, in case you were wondering, I wouldn't scam you even if I could get away with it. :)

:) I thought I was going to read about a 10K mark or so. If it's $200 make them pay in full before you budge. If it's international they can refund/despute PayPal fairly easily, stick to your neighbours.

    Best,
    NC.

dispute with paypal don't go very far ... especially with non tangible goods, I have had bad experiences myself

but in general I agree with you guys, for $1000 or less I would not bother with special deals but making sure that the guy has some rep in the forums is crucial

I buy small, cheap websites fairly regularly and would not hesitate to the pay the $200 in advance of the transfer. I think most such serious buyers would be like that.

Yes, use some sort of escrow system to hold money until everything is satisfactory on both ends.
