There are many factors that would govern price, PR would be the one of least concern to me, each owner would look at all angles to determine price, the paying public will then act as a baromoter, by seeing value for their money and signing up or walking on by.

My prices for my PR4 directory are $5.95 (for regular with 3 deeplinks) and $14.95 (for featured with 5 deeplinks), and I think this is a fair price. Right?

I think its the other way around. The PR4 sites that didnt get penalised or drop PR you can get in for $6, like vctechs directories.

The established directories may have to lower prices or they may loose business to the PR chasers who want PR4 for $6.

Everytime I think people around here are starting to get it, they quickly show me that they are not.

The value of a directory is the traffic it sends and the SEO benefits it provides - PR is the fool's gold of the Internet and I can't believe so many of you are publicly talking about how much you are charging for it. Who needs to report anyone to the Google police, you keep reporting yourselves?

    @leede

What price you decide to charge for your reviews is one thing..
But to change it due to googles PR would be inaccurate reason..

While Most all directories lost some Page rank due to whatever reasons google
deemed appropriate i think you should look at the time it takes you to review
and price it according to what you feel "your time is worth".

    just my 2 cents ...

    thx

Is that really the market you want to target?

See the thread you started on PR adjustment. At no time will i base prices on PR or encourage others to do so.

    Correct Creed :)

Most real companies/business dont look for PR.
they look to find real value when they submit their sites.

Let me explain that even with our PR drop we still get submissions daily
in all directories they choose. We haven't seen any less in submissions
only those whom chased PR aren't interested and thats fine as we wont be
having to change the category they targeted just for the sake of PR ;)

    thx

    I don't!:)

PR should be the least factor, while determining the price!
though the market decides the price, it all depends on the submitters point of view, if they think the price is ideal they will, else they won't!

Perhaps i am confusing you. Firstly in the first post i mentioned others, not me.

Secondly, i said PR chasers. That mean those that submit for a PR backlink, and those that sell it. Google has lowered PR, so those that sell PR will need to lower their prices, as the PR buyers wont be prepared to pay as much. Those that dont care are fine.

Personally i dont base my prices on alexa rank. Nor do i base it on PR. They are just external factors people use to decide if a site is worthy of a submission. I submit to loads of PR0 directories. I use several factors to decide if a directory is worth submitting to, and PR isnt one if them.

If there was a better way to judge that would be great, but for now PR is the best metric customers have to use, and will probably continue to use. Thats why i said that those that care about PR will need to change prices.
