Yeah haha it's amazing, I kind of like seeing all the action, all the other noobs left the day it happened... noobs
I was told by a south Orange County Starbucks barrister that they had San Diegans walking in tonight asking where to find a hotel. Normally people would seek shelter in the near by built up areas. These are strange days.

I had to evacuate due to the fires too. Two kids, so I didn't wait very long at all. We're crowded into my mother's house, and I do mean crowded. 11 people and a variety of cats and dogs. We're just glad we don't have to go to the shelters. My sister's house is in one of the burn areas, but shouldn't be too badly damaged so far. There's an easy trick to checking on a home if you have an answering machine. Just call it. If it picks up, your phone and power are still one, and the damage to the house is probably not too bad, if there's any at all. No answer can of course be as simple as a power outage, but so long as the power's on you can get that bit of reassurance.
Well, hopefully they can avoid many of the homes from being destroyed. When are the winds supposed to calm down?
What's it looking like this morning in San Diego county? LA news is saying the fires are still heading towards Solano and Del Mar, I hope they are still using last nights scripts. The air is pretty clear in south Orange County and the winds are down. I am about 9 miles from the Foothill Ranch fire so we had a lot of smoke and ash for the last 36 hours.
Where I live it's calmed down, but there have been ash EVERYWHERE, cars that were white are black, sidewalks are black, there have been a few new fires to. http://www.signonsandiego.com/
Up until a few hours ago, they were still concerned about Del Mar and Solana Beach. But the winds died down and they no longer think that it will reach the coast. There are homes near where I live that they are allowing people to come back. Not quite to my address yet, but I find that quite encouraging. On the other hand, I know for certain that some homes perhaps 2 miles away from mine were destroyed. The winds dying down is great for the firefighters, but where I am now smells a lot smokier because of it. Fortunately there's no indication that they will come here. I would really hate to evacuate again. I know people who had to evacuate 3 or more times because no one realized at first how bad the fires would be.
Anyone in San Diego know if UTC/UCSD area is in any danger? I have a condo there. Stevenson Ranch was pretty ugly for awhile last night, but the firefighters did an awesome job of pushing it back. Now I'm starting to see smoke come up over the mountain coming from Canyon Country again. Looks almost like a volcano.
see what happens when you have the terminator for governor...just a joke, i seriously feel for all of you and hope the fires stop soon.
I can see a pretty good glow coming from the direction of Ortega Highway, just south of Ladera Ranch and Mission Viejo. It shouldn't be much of a threat though since it is mostly open country that borders some very new housing that is set back from the edge of where the fire can reach.
