Well for max protection Kaspersky hands down since it updates every hour, and detects not much more then NOD32, but SUCKS your resources and slows down internet.

If you want the best protection possible without sucking resources and maintaning your speed, go for NOD32 ( I use NOD32) and i love it.

I have used Avast for 2 years and its been great! I was using AVG but found when AVG did actually find a virus it didnt know what to do with it so I had to find another anti virus system which was Avast! its a quality anti virus program of whiich many of my friends use and also love it!
I also like it because it uses less resouces so it benfits me as an online gamer! :)
    Cheers all

If you are looking for free version and wholetime free-type of anti-virus, you can choose AVG Anti Virus which is available to download from the avg official website and other freeware website.

On the other hand, you can try out the Bitdefender either only Antivirus version or Internet security or Total Security version which can obtain or purchase from their bitdefender website.

Bitdefender Anti Virus v10 - 14days trial can be downloaded from Bitdefender website, this free trial version antivirus include Anti Virus and Anti Spyware.

Bitdefender Anti Virus 2008 - same thing it has Antivirus, antispyware, Identity control and the new Game mode version.

Bitdefender Internet security 2008 - with antivirus, antispyware, identity control, parental control, antispam, firewall and also game mode version.

Bitdefender total security 2008 - same with internet security 2008, but with extra backup and tuneup feature.

Pro of using bitdefender are those who doesn't want their anti virus software to chew up their memory resources, this one doesn't even chew, and you won't notice at all.

Con: Its not free if you want the whole full feature.

    Thanks.

Kaspersky is really the Best and Top's among anti-virus programs, very reliable. Always the first one to detect while others not. I had tried avast, bitdefender, nod32 and panda but this ones A++ fo me so far.:p
