Hi SEO guru's Need some help on the best possible way to optimize the Title and Meta Tags. I can do a google search but that would give a very general way of optimizing titles. Hearing it from DP SEO experts is special and would be pure proven techniques as you guys are not like those normal claiming to be conventional experts.
As what I know meta tags are now useless.. I suggest you to make your title tag as long as 65 characters including spaces. You can put set of your keywords but avoid repetitive keywords
Meta description is usually what's displayed under your page title in the SERPs - very important. This helps the user decide which of the 10 results to click on, or to move to the next page or a different phrase. It's your chance to sell yourself once you've ranked. The title is far more important, though. Keywords in this tag are given more weight than anywhere else on the page. Many people suggest using the name of your site at the end of each page title for branding reasons. Beyond that, use a unique title on every page, and make it describe what will be found on that page.
for the Title, just be specific about it. Don't mislead it so you will not have a problem. same goes with your meta description and keywords.
Here is an example of how you should set up!!: <title>Search Term Positioning l SEO Solutions l Web Design l TermRaider.com</title> <meta name="description" content="We provide search term positioning, SEO solutions, web design, custom seo solutions, and more!"> <meta name="keywords" content="search term positioning, web design, seo, custom seo solutions, search terms, seo tech, meta tags"> I hope this helps!!
My 2 Cents. Assign targeted keywords to each page (2-5 per page). make sure that the main keywords for each page are in the title tag. Then make sure the keywords are repeated in the description tag Keep the keywords tag under 5 keywords (I don't put too much weight on this tag). SEO 5000's post had a perfect example of meta tags. My best advice, make sure the title and description tag matches the pages content! I wrote a meta tag "how-to" at diyseotools.com/search-engine-101.html hope it helps!!
I agree, some descriptions and titles even thought they may be on the first page dissuade me from clicking on them because their lack of relevance to what I am searching for.
Fairly to relatively important. What you need to remember though is that the TITLE element is there to present the title of the Web page to the user. If you can put some relevant keywords for that page in there, great. If not, then don't worry so much about it. Just make sure you go with a page/section/site breakdown though, and keep your titles short. You don't want to dilute the effectiveness of the keywords you do include in the title, afterall.
Here is my overview on this subject. Your title tag is important, it does play a role in your SERPs, it does not have any effect on your pagerank. The only effect it might have on pagerank is it might link that page to be related to an inbound links content. Again, this is if the title is used at all when it comes to pagerank. You'll find the title tag should basicly be what it is, a title. You want to describe the page in a title. Its just like a title to a book, but the title relates to the book. Below is more information that might help. This is an example for a page that contains funny pictures. DO NOT stuff your title with just keywords. - (ex. funny pictures, funny pics, funny pixs, humor pictures ) YOU WOULD want something related to the page. - (ex. YourWebSiteName - Funny Pictures) Again, this is a basic example to give you an idea.
Very. Let’s say you are in a book store looking for books on online marketing in the Small business section. As a browser, your eyes review the titles of each book looking for something that is relevant to what you are searching for. Odds are, you pick up the books with "Online Marketing" in the title. Better odds are you buy the book "online marketing for small businesses". Take your site for example: every page in your site can have its own title. What keywords would you want in your title tag? What would your target market search for?
