Your question is a very silly one. Do I believe the Iranians.... Who are these Iranians you talk about? Which Iranians are we talking about? Are you talking about the religious Iranians, the ones that love blowing themselves up? The ones that support Hezbollah? The ones that forge alliances with Russia? Or are you talking about the everyday average Iranian in which case I don't know.

You do come up with some silly examples sometimes. I met a lot of Russians and one thing that puzzles me is that most of them are top dudes and yet they end up with demonic leaders. Are you comparing today's Germany with Russia?

I will be honest with you and I will admit it: you are superior to me. You seem to have more faith in liberal thinking than I do in common sense.

    I mean the iranian leaders.

You keep talking about making an alliance with Russia as if that's evil. And you justify it being evil by Russia's past. The comparrison between two countries that have a stained past seems normal to me. Again, as you failed to answer my question: Should we judge countries by their past and not by their present?

what exactly ddo you mean by "liberal thinking"? Oh, and constantly avoiding to answer questions and provide evidence to support your claims both in this thread and others doesn't really seem like common sense to me. I may be wrong though, it depend's on one's definition of common sense

At the end of the day I really do not feel the difference if we talk about evil past between US, Britain, France, Portugal or Russia. I mean all have something on their "head" ....
It is stupid to talk as for example Russia evil and what not when we know that today western, democratic countries who publish publications about human rights still own colonies around the world. I mean it is kind of strange isn't it ?

our definition of common sense is common to this universe, but proteindude obviously lives in a parallel universe where his version of common sense is equally common.
ever heard of 'string theory' dude?

I think the Iranian leaders hate the West more than they care about their own country. Golda Meir was asked when will there be peace in the Middle East. Her reply was: "When Palestinian mothers love their children more than they hate the Jews". Very true statement in my opinion.

The answer is a big YES. The past is the most accurate measure we can use. I am not sure what you mean by present. You don't seem to understand what an evil president Russia has. What puzzles me is that I met lots of Russians and they seem like top dudes and yet they end up with the most evil leaders.

Have you heard of right (as in the proper one) and left as in the opposite of right? That is what I mean by "liberal thinking". Liberal thinking is believing in ideals while ignoring reality.

Common sense means that you know something is right or wrong without needing further explanations. It is common sense that I would accept a pay rise if my boss offered me one. It is common sense that you are required to get something once you paid for it.

It is common sense to believe the country that affords you most liberties of any country in the world is the country where its citizens are most free (USA).

proteindude : what a bunch of crap ! What evil russian president ?

Because someone does not fit into your box he or they is/are evil ?

Let's measure the past shall we and compare and measure western shit around the world and shit from all the "rest".

I don't think you can handle it !

What you are talking is not common sense to the rest of the world. While US gives freedom to their citizens they sure do not deliver freedom for the rest of the world....

You keep ignoring that September when something happened thing I posted earlier ;) .... don't want to talk about it huh ? :D

There is nothing evil about Russia, you should not watch Rambo movies that much (John Rambo has an outstanding record of killing Soviet people..lol) ;)

For example, India has a very close two way alliance with Russia for about 55 years. Both countries exchange Ideas and resources (Mostly military related). Now do you think that India is an evil country with some hidden agenda of taking over the world or destroying the west?

Dude, believe me Russia (and Former Soviet) are way too less evil than shown in the hollywood movies.

If you talk about history and killing people - Germans, Japanese, Even British and Americans killed too many innocent people Pre World War II. Does that make them equal evil now? I don't think so..

the problem here Will is that we helped put these regimes in power. Our government screwed it up in iran, and i posted this many times(search my posts on dp about doctor mossadegh). Iran was a peaceful non violent country in the 1950's with a pro democratic leader in doctor mossadegh(time magazines man of the year in 1951), but we and the british took him out because he wouldnt sign over 51% controlling interest in iranian oil. This is when both governments decided it was time to take him out and install the shah.

I agree this current iranian regime is crazy and doesnt represent the iranian educated youth, but ask any of them who their true hero was and they will say mossadegh, a man who would have brought some form of democracy today to iran if we just allowed him to stay on as popularly elected leader of iran. Instead we gotta deal with these lunatics in power now.

The current one. Putin or something.

I would say the same goes for you if you judge it this way.

I am sure everyone is a sinner (including me). However, overall I am pretty sure the West has a much cleaner record. At least the West does not kill its own citizens.

Dude, I got to say and I hope you don't take this as an attack on you, but this point is probably the weakest you brought. US gives freedom to its citizens and not to the rest of the world??? Can you give one example?

I honestly don't know what you mean by this.

I agree, after all the BS to force the illegal occupation of Iraq nobody can blame Iran or Syria from taking steps against these fools.

Yes, it's the same people who did not respond to FBI reports of Al Queda members in America training to fly planes but not land them (9/11 commission report).

The UN has gone in for weapons inspections and has not found them.

Any day now, the marxist neocons will be cooking up some "yellow cake" documents I am sure.

The reality is that now that Russia has thrown it's hat in the ring, the US is stymied. Too bad we didn't take up the Iranians in 2003 when they wanted to establish diplomatic relations and co-operation.

    Welcome back guru-seo! :)

We haven't seen you for nearly 6 months.

For Christs sake be careful on personal attacks things have really tightened up these days matey, almost to the point that it's not worth posting here anymore.

Nothing at all has changed since you went away except hatred from the crazy gang toward Ron Paul has increased. Other than that you have missed absolutely nothing.

Dude I am sure many understood what I posted. I cannot help you if you don't read your posts and then mine when I quoted and answered you ... Probably the lack of information and knowledge is what it is preventing you to understand some things.
For example check the first page of this thread where I quoted you and posted about September happenings in Iran.
