How do I start a religion like scientology.

First of all, I am a dedicated Christian and that is not going to change.

However, I need a bit of cash right now and I was wondering how I can start a religion like scientology that will generate its creator money. What kin of magic did L. Rob Hubbard pull off to get a large following?

Become a science fiction writer. Act very self confident and only tell people small pieces of your nonsensical theories at a time. By the time you tell the whole story, they will be too wrapped up in it to realize it's flat nuts.

Bilking people out of their money would put you in "good" company as far as dedicated "Christians" are concerned ;)

If you are a dedicated Christian, why not ask your own preacher? Few if any denominations are as profitable

I would think a dedicated Christian would be deemed an eternity of hell if they were to profit from turning people away from their savior??

First you need a small army of zealots, lacking any idea of history, with low self esteem and little time spent on introspection. Combine that with a narrow vision of the world, flexible morality and an orphan complex, and you're halfway there.

The funny thing about L. Ron Hubbard is he tricked himself in the end. He didn't believe all that crap he said at first, but then convinced himself it was true.

    How soon people forget.

If the Catholic church was a corporation, it would be the most profitable and powerful in the world.

The only reason people have problems with Scientology is because it isnt 2000 years old.

Smoke. The Catholic Church does not in itself represent Christianity. It is NOT the authority.

That's one of my problems with Catholocism too. They used to make tons selling fake splinters of the cross to save people's souls.
