    I keep seeing these sites with 2000+ links. Some of these sites are less than 1 year old. I know these people are not spending tens of thousands of dollars building links. I have seen MySpace resources with 20,000+ links. I have also seen link building companies struggle to get 200 links built in a 6 month period. How are these people building 20,000 links? I know they aren't spending tens of thousands of dollars. What do you think?

    they genrally have automated links , and they might be doing link baiting

    submiting to directorys, submitting articles , blog post not to mention signature in forums. they build up fast.

    2000 links is not tough to build. But we have to make sure that they are quality and related links. forum signatures and article marketing can bring 1000's of backlinks within a month easily

    but automatic links building tools are bad for long term

    hmmm... A few good sitewide links can reach that mark, but it takes time for the search engines to spider all those pages.

    Focus on quality and not quantity.

    If you get lucky with some of the articles you write and they get "hot" then links will be coming in pretty fast for the great article. Now you have an entire year to try and write some good articles to get those 2,000 links. I don't think it would be that hard to do.

    I ran a test on one of the websites that I have with submitting it to thousands of directories. I got just over 1,000 backlinks. Obviously thy are not the highest quality but they are links.

    Auto matic link tools are very bad just like Trichnosis stated. The only way your going to really get some quality links is if you buy them, or produce content that is link worthy. Stay away from spam networks and etc such as spam blogs.

    If your looking to buy links start with contextual links they are by far the best case your can get them in bulk with numerous keywords if you ask me there the best links any one can get plus there permanent.

    Its site wide links say for example if you get a site wide link from a site that has 10,000 pages and your link is on every page such as a site wide link on the blog roll it will read as 10k links we have probably over 50k in links, but we have a lot of site wide links.

    I do not think you can get a 100 links with google with signature links. Google will only index few most important... Easier with other SEs.

    Its not that easy to have 20,000 link but you can do this by simply start optimizing your site through link building.
