Question About .htaccess And Renamed Files On Webspace

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by bad_bob00, Oct 18, 2007.

    Hi there,

A while ago I decided to rename some of my page files so that they are a little more search-engine-friendly. To do this I uploaded new file names, and uploaded a .htaccess file which redirected the old file to the new file.

I didn't actually delete the older files from my webspace, and was just wondering do you think I should? Could it be seen as duplicate content otherwise?

    Thanks for any help.

Its probably a good idea to delete them.

ALthough if your htaccess file is forcing the redirect properly you wont have any problems with duplicate content issues.

    Hope this helps
