Nice Article, It seems to cover the General aspects. There are Lot’s more in-depth elements to the equation, However, this is enough to at least get people started in the right direction.

    Good Job.

I think the repeated "Nice Tips" posts is annoying at best (whether he was trying to support a hidden agenda or not) ((NOTE It appears that the repeat poster was removed, so thats probably why this post now looks weird)) lol or maybe I was always Weird...

... What's up with Bob? You could've posted your "nice tip" once. No need to post it over and over again.

Scorpionagency: I didn't ask anyone to do that, if that's what you mean by "hidden agenda". XD

How long can sitemaps be? With a dynamic site, a sitemap can easily have thousands of links. Would this look like spam to a search engine?

Nah, I don't think so thrillhill. Sitemaps are like guides to search engine spiders. :)

Good post. These are really the basics everyone should know when building a website and promoting.

OK..... Then, is it better to have just one giant sitemap with practically every link in the site or does it make sense to split it up into different sitemaps such as a general sitemap linking to "sub" sitemaps?

For instance the general sitemap would link to a Article Sitemap, a Blog Sitemap, and a News Sitemap.

If you're talking about REALLY huge sites, then separate sitemaps would be good.

One sitemap for the article section, one for the blog, etc. :)

Icool, did you check your Robots.txt? Google might not be allowed to index your site... Read my Robots.txt guide (in my sig) for more info on the said file.

Here's a guide to get indexed by Google in less than 24 hours. :) Hope it helps.

Can you supply me with a direct link or 2 to the page(s) not getting indexed? I may be able sum it up rather quick simply from 2 or 3 tests to the actual page(s) in question.

Even without sitemap your site will be crawled.... The best way is to link your site to already crawled sites...:p
