yeah... it's interesting to know your stories...
in my case, it's also very simple...
i use the internet everyday, and of course, i saw many google ads in many sites... one day, i wonder what the hell is that, why people put those so ugly ads on their sites ... then I read some documents ab adsense and become a newbie today :)

I left Microsoft in 2003, and my husband and I bought a small business.

The existing website was horrible, so not knowing a thing about html 12 months ago, I set about learning how to improve my site. First I just focused on design basics, speed, then I stumbled on the concept of SEO.

6 months ago I finally started paying attention to the affiliate "chatter" on the forums. Honestly, I'd ignored it only because it seemed to easy, or too good to be true, and I though it could possibly be a scam or something. ;)

You mean I get paid if someone just clicks the ad?

I joined adsense in June '05, and just a few months later I'm about 1/2 way to replacing my old salary each month- Just from adsense. (And of course large credit goes to DP and all the great advice I have received from it's members)

Our business has tripled because of clients finding us online too. And it's all been accomplished while I have been sitting in my comfy chair in my own living room, being bossed around by my 5 year old Son!

My goal was to make enough money to cover costs for a site I had paid for out of my own money for the last three years. After meeting that goal I found DP and started reading and got motivated to make a second site whcih makes a lot more than the first site (still small change)
Now thinking what the next site will be. All possible with the info found on DP.;)

I found Adsense through using Adwords. I wanted to drive some traffic to my site so I set up an Adwords account and learned where the ads were being displayed and one thing lead to another and I ended up setting up an account with Adsense.

I learnt about Adsense from Allan Gardyne's excellent associateprograms.com.
It was just about a few weeks since Adsense had been lunched.

It was this one day when I was in school library. It was around may or june 2005 when my semester was almost over. I was taking 18 units in Southwestern College while working full time. Tit was very hard for me those days. Next semester was coming so I needed like $2000 for enrollment itself. I was in the library looking at the ceiling. I couldn't stop looking at it too. I was about to cry. I felt like everything was coming to an end. I knew I couldn't stop working since my family couldn't support me. I didn't want to stop school at all.

Then that same day when I was in the library. I was searching yahoo for "working at home part time." when I remembered that I had an account with epinions.com. ( I signed up back 2002. ) I realized that I made about 26 something dollars for writing 13 book reviews. But then that wasn't enough so the search went on.

I searched again and read, read, read about making money online. Fortunately, there was a website that taught me how to make money online. That's the day when I discovered adsense.

My story is much like most. I had an established site that had good traffic but I never made much from it. I tried adsense on a few pages back in oct 2004 and made $0.31 for the day. I didn't like the ads, there was no money in it so I took adsense off.

In July of this year I thought I would try it again - this time a little more seriously... single digits first half day, double digits the next. A few days later after much reading, researching and tweaking I got to the magic 50 and was hooked.

I joined AdSense in Summer 2003.

I think the program was only online for a couple of weeks and I saw a site using it. I was wondering what it was, did a quick search, and discovered Google had launched a contextual advertising program.

My goal back then was to cover the hosting costs of my websites. A couple of weeks later I realized I would have a couple of honderd dollars of profit a year, I thought I could either save them or buy some new things like a phone.

About a year ago I realized a lot more was possible and started some new sites, tried out some new things over the last couple of months, diversified a bit more, ... During 2005 I've earned a lot more than a very well paid job could earn me and my goal for 2006 is to do even better.

I was surfing around the Internet and saw some links called "Google Ads" and I wondered what it was. At this time AdSense was only available for the US so I had to wait several months until I could sign up since I live in Europe. Once I signed up and put the ads on my sites I was very pleased with the results :) My site wasn't built for AdSense, but I did pretty well anyway. Now I learned much more and if I had known that since the beginning I would have made quite a bigger sum. Now I have ten times fewer pageviews, but I am making almost the same amount as in the past.

The reason why I have less now is because my server went down for a couple of months and I had some "life issues" ;) to solve. So I could not care much for the site and now I am where I am, but I'm constantly improving. Of course it takes some time, but it's fun and I know that I can make much more if I keep working on everything.

AdSense is a nice program. Thanks to Yahoo and Microsoft we will see more improvement in this area - competition was always good for me ;) Good luck to all of you guys! Just don't forget that success based on cheating most probably will not last long :)
