I am currently doing some more massive free directory submission of my websites urls - as you know I have been doing article submission for over 2 years, I also do a lot of link exchanges, and still get hardly no traffic - What would you guys try next in a major way ? I have tried some PPC but only results with that were losing a lot of money fast. I have also tried marketing sites by getting urls etc printed on Pens to give away, again with only losing a lot of money and getting a trickle of traffic. I have also tried small ads in local print newspapers, again a big money loss and no trafffic.......... I welcome any help in getting traffic to site(s)
Instead of putting and ad in the local paper why not offer to write a free article for your local related magazine. I see you have a fishing site, you could write the article for the local fashing magazine This can also work with the local paper. People are more inclined to read articles than look at ads. Maybe study the niche a little, honne your content toward what people are looking for. Hope this helps
how about buying a signature links from fishing forums/sites. maybe good source for your target visitor.
Ive tried digg, fark, stumbleupon etc many times, and have yet to get nothing more than a few trickles - Are these the types of sites your talking about when you mention 'social bookmarking' ?
Hi, For the social Bookmarking, there are a lot of sites you can submit your url info to, below are some of the links that have high PR, check it out. In fact, Social bookmarking does bring traffic to your site but you need to know the variables to make it happen. List of Social Bookmarking site. Social Bookmarking Site Page Rank 1) connectedy.com/ PR: 4 2) furl.net/ PR: 8 3) www.getboo.com/ PR: 4 4) i89.us/ PR: 4 5) www.linkagogo.com/ PR: 6 6) buddymarks.com/index.php/ PR: 5 7) ma.gnolia.com/ PR: 7 8) netvouz.com/ PR: 6 9) simpy.com/ PR: 7 10) technorati.com/ PR: 8 11) spurl.net/ PR: 6 12) del.icio.us/ PR: 8 13) bibsonomy.org/ PR: 6 14) myweb2.search.yahoo.com/ PR: 7 15) propeller.com/ (netscape.com) PR: 9 16) reddit.com/ PR: 7 17) digg.com/ PR: 8 18) newsvine.com/ PR: 7 19) blinklist.com/ PR: 6 20) bluedot.us/ PR: 6 21) wink.com/ PR: 6 22) de.lirio.us/ PR: 7 23) stumbleupon.com/ PR: 8 24) IndianPad.com/ PR: 6 25) dzone.com/ PR: 6 26) hdiigo.com/ PR: 6 27) markaboo.com/ PR: 5 28) wists.com/ PR: 5 29) a1-webmarks.com/ PR: 4 30) listible.com/ PR: 6 31) plugim.com/ PR: 5 32) sitejot.com/ PR: 4 33) google.com/bookmarks/ PR: 7 34) claimid.com/ PR: 7 35) www.backflip.com/ PR: 6 Code (markup): Hope this help.
Seeing as link exchanges and article/directory submission don't work anymore you should try something new like writing quality content and getting it on Digg.
Thanks samww Great list of urls - and thanks everybody for flames, help, etc - I am going to master this traffic stuff yet always learning...........
What kind of article marketing exactly... If you say you submit only to the directories thats not article marketing. You need to get your stuff in front of real readers who are interested in your article
First for a good month or so I use each article as content on my own sites that match the content, etc, then I submit each of these new urls to a bunch of the top search engines, then after they start showing up in engines I submit them manually to some high pr websites with the same related subject as the article, for instance a fishing site would get a article on fishing etc, these are sites that have articles for their readers, then I submit each with altered title or content (so search engines don't penalize as much for duplicate content) to Isnares submission service, then to the top 30 big pr sites manualy, then to 300 or so smaller sites with 'article submitter' software. Each article is full of content rich key words etc, and have a link back to my site(s) that is related.
Do you have a blog? If not get one. On the other hand if after that much promotion you can't see any traffic it surely mean that you don't have return visitors, you should focus initially on improving your content and your site stickiness then.
If your not re-writing the article for the distribution your getting hit by duplicate content. Do you followup with the places that pickup your articles through isnare and submit to them directly?
Maybe we should start from the beginning. How have you done your keywords research? Have you got a list of keywords that you are working to with pages for a particular phrase? Have you done research on whether those phrases have too strong competition or not enough eyeballs to make it worthwhile? Use the keyword suggestion tool here on DP if you havent yet. If you have and its just a matter of link building then try write emails to more authoritative sites to tell them of the good content that your site has that would benefit their users. One good link goes a long way.
Ive done paid press releases with PRWeb in the past, for around $80 each, and saw little or no traffic from them
Didn't you ask this before? You think there is some "magic bullet" out there, that you don't have to pay for advertising, and they will just come to your site in droves? Like what was mentioned before, you have to pay for advertising if you want a lot of hits.
I cant understand how someone can do so much work over two years and see no traffic from it. Im with xenyo, you must be doing something fundamentally wrong with your keywords for there to be no result at all.
I agree that the problem could be with the keywords you are targeting. How many of those keywords rank in the top 10, and of those how many people search each day for that keyword? There's no point in getting top SE results for keywords no one is looking for, but if you pick ones that are too competitive then you will need a ton of backlinks to rank. Look through your stats and find the keyword phrase that most people are coming to your site on. What position does that page have? If it's not #1, then concentrate on getting more backlinks to that particular page and see how much your traffic improves (unless, of course, it is a keyword phrase no one searches for.....)
I'm not a fan on search engines, I think it is overrated, but I looked at your fishing site, and you are STUFFING the hell out of the word "fishing." Get rid of the keywords tag in your code altogether because you have plenty in your text. In fact, there might still be too many keywords there. Consider putting in more text. I clicked on your carp page. Same thing in your code.
