A Horrible, HORRIBLE Change in Blogger

I am no longer able to select the time and date for my posts in Blogger. I thought that maybe this was a glitch that would go away, but it's not going away! This stinks.

Nah...I mean posting and setting the date and time to some point in the past. I often have to make slight corrections to the time of an entry to keep everything consistent.

I'm still hoping it's just a glitch that will pass.

    :(

I didn't notice the change, but it must be copyright complaint related..... Way too many blogs popping up in way too many places.... Trademark infringment is also becoming a major issue for blogger...... Everyone seems to be running out for those blogger.com's that they couldn't register but only wish they could.... I have even had my own TM problem recently with blogger user....

Yup...and eventually all those photos that people are illegally placing in their blogs might cause some serious problems soon.

    AmCy,

I'm new to Blogger so I can't attest to any changes, but I can assure you this feature is still there. I know this because I created my blog about a week ago and transferred my posts from a manual blog and I backdated all my posts.

The place to do this is right at the bottom of the text editor when you create or edit a post. There's a little link called "Post and comment options" and it expands to give you your date and time fields.

    Hope this helps.

You are in fact correct. :)

I think this link has always been there, however, used to be that the system would default to showing you those options, so I became "blind" to that link.

I'm glad I was wrong. Thanks for the tip.

Actually it's not illegal, under fair use/dealing copyrighted works can be reproduced for "criticism, comment, news reporting."

Some are "fair use," but I believe--just my opinion--that the majority are images are copyright protected and are not considered "public domain."

Like those snapshots that many folks pluck from online news outlets (Reuters, AP, etc.) Most of those are copyright of the photographer, and are not public domain; they would require express permission for use by the photographer or website owner.

"Fair use" is for using excerpts of copyright protected materials. All uses are fair for public domain materials.

That being said, you are right. You cannot site "fair use" to excuse copying a Reuters news photo to illustrate a news story on your site. You COULD site fair use to reproduce the photo if you were doing a critique of the actual photo itself, though.

Right. And most bloggers aren't doing critques of the actual photos, if you see what I mean. They're just adding whatever picture they find that fits a particular blog entry and makes their blog look nice.

    As always, IMO.
