What do you say when people ask you, "what do you do!" recently i was asked by some relatives that what i do these days. I used to work as an hardware expert, i used to be a network admin, but for the last year or so, am working 15+ hours a day on internet, so this time i honestly told them that i do internet marketing!! well i tried to explain them what how these things work, but they kept starring at me, like i was some kind of freak! Friend: Hey, what's up, what are you doing these days! Me: Well, i work on the internet these days, Friend: Me: I mean, making website, then do seo, after that, sell link and other stuffs! Friend: get a life, dude! Me: Hell, NO! There is no life, out of the internet! So, i mean, the regular people these days thinks that am some kind of freek, that dose something on the net, and then the money either comes to the home or gets deposited on the bank! LOL! people will never understand. Recently i met my uncle, he works in the bank, after his years+s+s of work, he still earns less then what i already make, but still he says, why am wasting my time and effort on the net, rather i should try to find a real work! I attended a marriage of one of my relative, and i was the talking point throughout, i mean, what the hell! am just a normal person doing just another type of work!! Making money on the net, for us it's exciting, hard work! dedication... I mean we work for [15-18 hours a day!], this is an easy work. For others, i mean off line people it's freaking! Very sad Indeed! So guys, what's you take on it, how do you answer these question, or what you say when people ask you, "what do you do?" regards, Uttoransen!
Welcome to India Sir This is what a typical Indian mentality is. Being an IITian I opted not to take a job. And when I tell people that I work on internet, they feel pity on me People are just so unaware of the potential of Internet Marketing. I have really stopped attending any public function or family ceremony. I try my best to avoid my relatives. One advice for you Uttoransen: Don't get too social with you relatives till the time you have an Opal Corsa or a benz
All i have is a hero honda! bike!! yes! that's the problem. people just don't give value of the work. may be you are right, i should start avoiding these relatives, they give some real tough times
Don't feel that am blaming the relatives (mine or yours). Its just the mindset in which everyone is molded. What all matters for them is money and security. Offcourse a webmaster do not have any security. Things can change anytime for us. But the best part of our work is the freedom which we enjoy. Atleast I don't have to wake up at 8:00 am and get ready for the office. P.S. I dont even have a bike.

I am a full time SEO & Internet Marketing Specialist in one reputated MNC so I don't think so I am eligible to post here. But its very hard to clear our work to non IT related person even some time to IT related person also.
BOIL is my fav online drink. I enjoy BOIL only with fellow Benders while hangin on some online online forum Bar.. Beer is for offline bars which are not as happening as online ones.
