    I have a PR4 site, DMOZ, PR6 backlink.
Time to move on to higher PR.
What is the best white hat way to bring it up to PR5 and above?
When is the next PR update btw?

Go for backlinks from PR7, PR8 or PR9 sites...

PR update - no body knows, all are waiting since 6 months.

    Cool!

I'm actually referring to the specific technique on acquiring these High PR links.
What about posting comments on high pr blogs?

Blog comments are "nofollow" so no PR value is passed :)

Not all blogs are nofollow, and if the posts are on topic, and the links relevant and useful, the could result in additional links, and certainly traffic. I'd not brush off "nofollow" so quickly, especially when it can result in quality traffic.

Though for PR only then I guess traffic is secondary (as strange of a concept as that is) so I guess you are right.

my theory is still backlinks from blogs with no 'nofollow', or being listed on a high PR del.icio.us page.

A way to build PR through both quantity and quality links is via articles. Having a new antiques, collectables and auction news site, I am a bit partial. ;)

You mean like submitting to authority sites?
Or mass submission to 100+ article directories?

I would ignore PR, focus on building rankings for terms that will bring traffic related to your site. Produce content...high pr will follow.

If the comments page you're targeting has got your required PR value. I see so many blogs and comments at the top 10 of SERP's in my various searches you can't deny there is value in that technique. Both for quality backlinking and traffic as well. If done right.
