Newbie to Co-Op 12,500 Weight To Spread

Discussion in 'Co-op Advertising Network' started by designteks, Nov 28, 2005.

just got my site validated at 12,500 ...

I've got a good mix of 50+ sites to choose from not sure the best
approach / strategy to use in distributing the weight ...

My initial thought was to add the full 50 and spread as thin as possible so as
not to trip any filters etc ... not sure if this is being to cautious

Most of my sites do (ok to well) at Yahoo and MSN but not much with google.

Any strategy help or points to threads would be appreciated

it depends on how competitive the keywords you are chasing are. COOP tends (from my experience) to help out mostly with MSN, some with Yahoo and not really at all with Google. I think spreading that sort of weight over 50 sites it a bit too over cautious, to the point where you won't see much of a difference to any, unless of course your keywords aren't that competitive. To air on the side of caution you could spread it over several sites to start with then gradually increase the weight towards teh few sites you wish to target most

So far from my experience, this tends to be a temporary effect and does not last. I am conducting an experiment right now with just the coop to see whether or not this is true.

From my experience, I would pick about three-four of your sites and split it up between them. It sort of depends on the competition for your keywords how much you want to use though, but it sounds like with 50 sites you're not going after hugely competitive stuff.

    kneuk / tiptop

thanks for the responses, I wouldn't say hugely competitive stuff, I have alot
of sites / pages sitting down in the teens in the serp's that I would do well
with if I could grab one of the top couple spots.

I'm concerned about getting a site bounced (from yahoo not google) which is
why I'm going slow most of the weight is going to google and yahoo at the
    moment.

I have set small weights of about 150 per unit and I added 20 some
accounts so far and have some going to index.html pages and some going to
interior pages, some new sites, as well hoping to get a quick / good crawl and
    maybe some good serp's

I still have more sites to add to the co-op (maybe another 25,000 weight)
and more sites to add to the advertising list, trying to get setup and then
gradually add the weights up like a unit every couple days

I don't really know as its all new to me, I read "the sky is falling" type threads
and get nervous, but have received advice saying point 2-3,000 at a single
    spot.

One thing I am curoius about is ...
How long it normally take to see improved results at yahoo and or msn ?

I don't know if it is days, weeks, months tied to updates etc ... so I don't
know when to change or adjust strategies

    thanks again,
    jay

Here's a recent post you should check out:

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=463449&postcount=28

150 will work well for very noncompetitive phrases, and I haven't had any problems pointing 3k at a single term personally. Just spread it around a little, some to the internal pages, some to other related terms but on the same page as your main term (i.e. "widgets, blue widgets, green widgets"), and have some other links going to the site.

I am doing the same. I have DP and LV test running side by side (not the same site) and will post the results once they are in.
