    sarahk,

Google clearly is able to "read" javascript now. Could it be that they have not been able to master css?

Do you believe that stuffing a page with keywords really helps a page soar in the serps, these days?

Keyword stuffing is a tactic that worked 2 years ago. Today, on-page optimization is only effective with non-competitive keywords or for small gains in the overall results.

Linking strategies have long been the effective tactic to catapult a page up in the serps.

mcdar, if you checked the example of hidden text that I posted you'd see that it was outbound links I was talking about and they have significantly helped the sites in question. Take a look at these backlink counts. Most relate to hidden links...

    http://www.google.com/search?q=link:http://www.chicagohomesconnection.com/

    for instance this page: sanfordhomesforsale.com/reportform.php?report=24
has no visible link to chicagohomesconnection.com and no mechanism to make it visible. Yet Google still list it as a valid backlink.

They may be clever but they're not that clever.

but if those links where visible it would do the exact same thing

they are really not gaining anything by hiding them

Yes they are, their page looks much better.

I believe a page should be designed, ultimately, for human readers.
Yet here's a page which presents one version of the content for humans and one version for the search engines.

I fully agree, having one or two competitors showing up in serps 1-3 at google, yahoo and msn, all due to a whole paragraph of hidden text somewere on the page, can't help, but I will be sending those spam reports once a month until they get their kick in the ass

The thread on WMW is interesting. They were starting to flame each others WMW style. "Darn you", "I've just about had it" etc.

They need some digitalpoint flavor in there. Someone to say STFU when it's due. heh

:) Everyone seems to love slating each other hence having a red, mind you i dpn't care people tend to give you negative if you express your opinion, lol what a forum, but there is some people who do have a clue Unlike 90 % of Cowboy SEOS can't wait for Global legislation system if it ever appears.

Barre tire you have valid points but because you disagree with the majority you get reds like myself.

The red doesn't bother me as long as I feel what I say is true to my knowledge.

In fact sometimes I feel if I recieve Red for a post it may be because I am speaking the facts and someone does bot want to accept it.. When you are in buisness and your competitors are complaining about you or bad mouthing you, then you must be doing something right. In fact i just got red for the post you were talking about point proven.

Apparently this post has upset a few people over at WMW. I just think there are to many kiss asses. I could spend all day reporting spam on Google but I choose not to. My feeling is It is Google's results it is up to them to sort it out not me and I am sure they will.

I feal if you are doing a search on Google and you see spam, then it's your right as to if you want to report it or not if they are allowing spam reports ( I don't because it's there job to perfect there algorithm ).

But if your only reporting your competitor, just because he's ahead of you then that's just really dissapointing.

And one more thing, do you really think the average Google searcher has any idea that this http://www.google.com/contact/spamreport.html page even exist or even knows how to get to it in the first place, I think this page was created for webmaster but that's just my opinion.
