It should work out to a average sooner or later. Yes more traffic does not mean more clicks. So it will go down but work on ads to try and keep clicks up. Move them and use color to get more clicks.

eCPM should stay constant once you reach a decent amount of traffic like 1000 impressions per day.

If you have 2 impressions and 1 click, the CTR is inaccurate so the eCPM will be huge but when you reach 1000 impressions the CTR is quite accurate.

Maybe your CPC or CTR has dropped due to untargetted ads? It's certainly not from too many impressions. ;)

If it is a sudden spike in traffic, I don't think it's so much an eCPM fall as it is an "adjustment". But yes, I have noticed that when traffic goes up, eCPM "falls" a bit. I also notice that if your traffic stays stable at the increased rate, eCPM usually goes back to your "normal" level.

However, eCPM normally fluctuates anyway... right?

It's probably because your extra traffic is less targeted so don't click on ads e.g. digg traffic is a huge amount but non targetted and don't click ads.

Hi, I believe they are quite independent parameters. Perhaps the traffic you are driving now is coming from less targeted audience which explains why the CPM is dropping.

no i don't think that is the reason! if your CTR remains constant or increases!
