Maintaining the ranking is very challanging.. Here are some suggestions for you.

    1. Continue link building. Make sure this process is never ending. (directory submissions, link echanges, article, blog entries, forum postings, etc)
    2. Create Content (Content is the king). Google favors bigger sites over the small ones.
    3. Update your website as often as possible with fresh and unique content(That will attract crawlers more often to your site and will result in better indexing of pages).
    4. Always do reserches and observe the tactics frequently used by your competitors and aim to be ahead of them.

Wow this was damn informative. You guys have actually provided all questions and thankfully many of them are answered.

This initiative is far better than looking at any other website.

Thanks to all for doing this together.

My question is: What is this grey PR, Good or bad?

If I understand correctly, you mean the Unranked status. Meaning a website didn't pass through any PR update, thus, it has a grey view.

Is there any trustable proof published anywhere (online) which shows that:

    - directory submission(s)
    OR
    - PR of the site (not backlinks)

    helped a site in SERPs?

That is theory. I know for sure that four totally irrelevant PR7 backlinks helped someone to move from #350 on #9 in Google in two days. But Google recommends relevant links...

I am interested if anyone actually had benefit from directory submissions and from having high PR of the site and if there is any solid proof about this anywhere.
