Resources to help get sites listed within DMOZ / ODP

Discussion in 'ODP / DMOZ' started by Qryztufre, Sep 18, 2007.

I’m looking for external DMOZ resources in the form of blogs, public newsletters, tools pages, and the like made for and by ODP members in hopes of getting a better understanding of just what it takes to get included within the project as both an editor and listings.

I’m looking for blogs by editors, ex-editors, and webmasters with apparent insights into the Directory. I’m not looking for the generically regurgitated “submit to dmoz” blogs…I want actual sites that discuss what it takes to get one included, or that discuss their personal insights into inclusion.

At one point, I found public newsletters for the project, but at the time didn’t bother to bookmark it. Anyone have a link to that? (It’s OLD) And I’ve recently heard about some type of public stats or something that they used to put out that included editor activity…anyone know where a link to that is?

I know there are also some editor tools that are out there, and I know that some at least are public. I’d appreciate a link to any of those, if they are known.

Other webmaster forums would count, assuming they have active editors or members that are actively helping people get their pages listed.

Please do not post internal or private links. I am trying to compile PUBLIC assistance for webmasters and submitters...so things that can get them banned would be counter productive.

    Thank you for your time,
    Q

Official reports can be found through Resource Zone but they aren't current.

I think there was a newsletter as well, but I can't remember if it was public or not.

You're welcome. I'm trying to find out if a site is still up that was written by an ex editor. I don't have the link anymore so I am not sure.

If you can give me some of the information on the page (like an editor name and title) I can likely find it in google. Feel free to email me any leads, including info to search.

The last pic I saw, I believe she was about 25, so she should still be in her twenties.

There are some editor blogs listed in this newsletter. Not sure how many are current or even working but you can check it out. I see some good names there.

This was a current picture at that time from one of the UK editors meet. And I was told her age, I wasn't guessing from the picture.

Yes they have annual meetings in quite a few different regions. And as far as I know any editor is welcome to attend if it isn't too far from them to travel.

I've noticed on other Forums I'm a member of that many people in the UK enjoy meetups. Much more then the members I've seen in the states. Kudos for them, for that!

Though, does anyone have any more [external] resources for the ODP?
