    What are the chances that google will take away/hide pr? What other ranking tool we could use? I own a web directory, and this is very important for it.

    I've come up with a SOLUTION to help resolve this pagerank "problem" once and for all!!!!!

    I'm launching a new toolbar that will rank sites on a scale of 0-10. Here's how it's going to work:

    Ten's will be limited to 10 across the entire WWW.
    Nine's will be limited to 150 across the WWW.
    Eights = 500
    Sevens = 3000
    Sixes = 10000
    Fives = 30000
    Fours = 75000
    Threes = 200000
    Twos = 500000
    Ones = 1000000
    Zero's = unlimited

    My pricing is as follows: (all pricing is annual)
    10 = $1,000,000
    9 = $250,000
    8 = $100,000
    7 = $40,000
    6 = $15,000
    5 = $5,000
    4 = $1800
    3 = $500
    2 = $200
    1 = $50
    0 = free

    You can pay via PayPal.

    Thanks in advance for switching to the 'mauiman' toolbar and making it the new standard.

    One last point... quarterly updates will be made on time every time and no more wondering how your sites will rank!

    I think its just a matter of time before Google's PR ends up like the Yugo! In my own opinion I think Google shot themselves in the foot and is limping right now. Page Rank was a good idea until some got greedy and started buying PR, which messed up Google's plan. Now all of a sudden they have a problem with this because the public is making money off of their idea. This is something Google should have seen coming. How many of you know webmasters with high PR sites that will just give someone a back link to help your PR?

    By the way, has any body reported Yahoo for selling links? With Yahoo Directory Submit, your site can be listed in the Directory for a fee of only $299 ($600 for adult sites). If your listing is accepted into the Directory, there will be a $299 recurring annual fee in subsequent years ($600 for adult sites) to maintain the listing.

    You might have a point, if Yahoo Directory accepted all submissions. Because then, it would be a simple pay to play scenaio. However, Google thinks that if the directory has standards (no porn, etc.. but still rather arbitrary) and doesn't accept all submissions, then it is a respectable directory, and not a paid-link directory.

    I need to start my own Yahoo Directory: Selling "Reviews" is the key and rejecting spam and porn links, and others you just don't approve of, while still collecting their review-submission fee.

    Good luck maintaining your paypal account, when everyone does chargebacks because you didnt approve their site. Even with it in your terms and conditions, paypal will always side with the buyer.

    One DP member sold and delivered a domain and web site.

    The buyer filed a chargeback and received a full refund from PayPal -- and the buyer kept the domain and web site.

    Paypal are convenient, I am in UK and its by far the quickest/cheapest way to pay people in USA/Pakistan which is where most of my sends are too. As long as you trust the people you are dealing with, its okay, but you are in real risk of losing your money/product to chargebacks otherwise. With the amount of cash paypal are taking, its a joke that they arent properly looking into disputes. Its a complete sell-out to simply say digitally delivered goods arent covered any more.

    All this crackdown on link sale would never happen if the one who is selling links is Google : They could easily charge $1mil for one link in their index page, but somebody else is making money - that's why they freaked out and left all webmasters guessing.

    @dragons5: if you want to fight google, go fight them. Don't waste your time in here, do you think they will read it? If you have anything to say, tell them. You know their physical address, don't you? Keep talking in here will only waste your time.

    Just thought it was funny that so many people are stressing so much over something that is obviously not happening anytime soon.

    Listen people: the sky is NOT going to come crashing down if Google doesn't update the toolbar PR. Just focus on your site, it's SERPs, and your conversion rates and traffic.
