i personally get some pretty good traffic from my signature links and feel that if you have the right type of website you can actually generate a bunch of traffic as long as you use a catchy phrase to bait people into viewing your site. Just my two cents i feel that paying for sigs can prove to be a useful way to drive traffic to your site

i think selling of signature and buying of signature have good effects on both the seller and buyer as the seller gets money and buyer gets backlinks.
but the buyer should put a glance over the seller dail no. of posts.
But remember some time it occurs when some mebe posts at very low rate but very wuaility posts and he get more views of his post so i think it may be again in -ive of ur statement "watch out his daily no. of posts."
What ever it is ....i think we should keep in mind everything

I don't think the length of posts are an issue. It is still going to be displayed in the sig.

I like the idea of selling them.

I gave my 4 sig spots away for free for 2 months. I'm sure the people in my sig are enjoying the number of posts I'm making. I keep getting pm's from people who click my sig links that they like my sites! so they are getting traffic.

You can try to sell your signatures based on the number of future posts you'll make. For example $5 for the next 250 post.

$10/1000 posts is fair enough,no matter if a member has 500 or 5000 posts.

when i buy sig links i take post frequency into account. If they post crap 5 times a day i leave them. if they have 2000+ posts and make 30 a day i buy their sig...

I make aout 30/day myself so never need to buy any:D

I usually don't click on sigs from members i've never seen before, even if they have like 2000 posts in just 2 months.
I tend to click on sigs from people i see here for long time, old DP members, even if they don't post 50 times a day.

Also a sig from an old DP member it's almost a guarantee that the member will remain in the forum for sure, i see newbies all day getting banned or selling lifetime sigs and run off DP...

It's not like the $10/1,000 is a firm exchange rate. I think most sig buyers consider the factors you listed when buying links. I know many sellers mentioning those things when they sell their links. An active poster with good rep is certainly worth more than someone who made a few thousand posts several years ago and only comes back to sell the sig links.

But those signatures also help in faster indexing ur site in SEs :) as the old threads are cached in SEs :)

Yes, but the old threads MUST be spidered, and when they are spidered they will be updated again, and thats when the link in the signature spot will appear.

to be honest many people buying sig links are not buying them for direct click through's, they are buying them to increase their incoming links to their own website in order to obtain a higher search engine position.

A lurker for a long time? You just joined up this month!!

I have bought and sold many sig links with many users here at DP. You would not believe how much traffic comes to my sites from these links. Sometimes, it depends on how good the anchor text is, others on placement in the signature space itself. Either way, it's good targeted traffic, as most who have clicked my links have usually followed up going to other pages on my site/s.

What Colleen says is 100% correct. I still get traffic from sig links I placed on a 12k post member here from around post number 3000 of his. The Google Cache works well.

    Col :)

like mentioned by several DP users above most of this sales are auctions so it depends how much they are willing to pay for it. In my opinion I would think the user would have to be active.

You don't need to make an account here to lurk, unless my definition of the word is wrong, which I don't believe is wrong.
