Yes, you need to bid at least $99 to be included in the auction. There may be other bidders after that, but you won't be able to find that out (and certainly won't get the name) unless you agree to a minimum of $99.

I have tons of experience with SnapNames. I've always backordered @ 60$ though, have never got that e-mail before...

Snapnames increased their reserve price on most of the names. I suggest you to increase the bid. I have rxed these mails many times

The reserve price is fixed. They won't reduce it AFAIK.. I suggest you to increase the bid to $99 if you really want to grab the domain by participating in the auction....The advantage is that if nobody bids on the domain, you will be able to get it at $99, which is not possible if you don't increase the bid to $99 from $60..

What I understand from you is if I didn't increase the bid from $60 to $99 AND I am the only bidder, still I will not win the auction, right?

or if I am the only bidder may I win the auction at $60 ?

Yes, What you understood is correct. You won't get the domain for $60 even if you are the only bidder as the reserve price is set to $99
