I don't think so. Google is not the internet. There are other search engines too. Also these directories get traffic from other sources too.

there is msn and yahoo too! and lately some of the smaller search engines are sending traffic too! so google is not the GOD after all!

On internet, the sites that sends traffic becomes god pretty fast, look at those stumble threads in the freebes, as stumble upon is sending traffic! on my sites yahoo sends the most traffic, more than msn and google! so am happy anyways!

Also: congrats to zorg for getting in, seems like mikey was confident all the way! and he got in google's index within 12 hours, and i was sleeping all the time! LOL it sure is a nice morning!:)

    It maybe a temporary glitch.
Original penalty is to not rank them for keywords.

But if they keep it de-indexed then its clear message to the community about bidding directories. But bidding directory isn't for traffic? :p

    I was in bed ;)

Its a problem now. The indexed pages are messed, its indexed loads of my theme demo pages when i didnt want it to, and the link detail pages belong to the old URLs, not the seo friendly URLs i made myself. Perhaps a sitemap may help....

A sitemap will do the trick, but if you don't want the URLs to get indexed do 301's from old to new etc etc ;)

I wasn't around to see it de-indexed, but seems like a lot of people are getting confused with a site being de-indexed and penalised....

I have noticed that there are back links and indexed pages for zorg-links are in normal position again. Better relief for mikey, let's have a party now :)

There are few people spreading rumors and starting threads so quickly and threatening others without any solid proof and facts. Please do proper research before you post or start thread on anything.

The sooner all these directories are de-indexed, the better. I know this wont be a very popular opinion, but its true.

Directories offer absolutely nothing to end users. They are solely for gaming PR and its completely understandable why google is taking action against them.

Out of interest, do you include Yahoo Directory & dmoz in your sweeping statement?

They aren't as corrupt as you think as Jeremy was put onto the "do not add list" apparently.

Don't believe me, check it here.
