actually, this may not good to google. google expands their business too fast! they should focus on their main thing: search! that's what they can use to win M$. Now, M$ will have Vista which integrates MSN. google will be in trouble since vista will make MSN more convenient to users.

I do tend to dissaprove with you. Although it is true that MSN is integrated within Vista, and this might make it a bit more competitive for google. But google already is earning the M$ you are talking about providing services that revolve around their main success that is "Search!". Whether its froogle, adsense, adwords, or any other new service they will be venturing in. I think it will always be linked to the Concept of them being a "Search Engine". Morever, the MSN bar which will be integrated with Vista, has been already ppreceeded by the Google toolbar. Although not integrated natively with explorer, the google toolbar is still widespread today, and it will take a whicle for MSN to be there.

MSN being "more convenient" doesn't help with the fact that the site sucks. In spite of being the default home page for the default web browser on 90%+ of new computers sold each year, MSN.com still can't manage to be the top internet property.

Well Yahoo search results look about the same. I'm guessing Google is just experimenting with ad layout to see how it performs.

my guess is G is adding additional sponsored links to take advantage of the extra $$$ that online stores are willing to spend during the 4th quarter.

The good news about Google is that anyone is free to take part in their success since they had an IPO. If you think they are going to rule the world then you should buy their stock and take advantage.

I think you hit the nail on the head. From now until December 24 are the biggest advertising days of the year. For some businesses, its the only time they advertise (or can afford to).

I am just wondering when I am going to be in the bathroom, look over to get some toilet paper, and see it stamped with AdSense all over it.

I don't think its that easy for MS to integrate msn.com search into vista....they should see line of antitrust suites coming if they do so :)
