Someone mentioned to me that there is a need for a way for people to be able to cloak affiliate links, to keep them from getting hijacked: http://www.joostdevalk.nl/affiliate-links-cloak-them/ http://www.shoemoney.com/2007/08/09/link-cloaking-the-why-the-where-the-how/ So, I built a free tool that does just that. It can be used for encoding anything really, content that you don't want scrapers to see (such as to help keep images from getting hotlinked in scraped content, etc.), but since the original reason I wrote it was for affiliate links, I figured I would post about it here: http://www.bad-neighborhood.com/htmlhashing.htm Honestly, I had no idea people would actually be actively ripping off other peoples affiliate links, but since there is software out there that others are charging $40 for to prevent hijackers, I guess it's actually prevalent. Yet another reason to hate scrapers. -Michael
hey thats quite cool. Obfuscating code is an old age technique though if you know how to. But still something which does it for you thats useful..
Thanks. Plus it's a little more advanced than many of the other free ones out there that just urlencode the strings. AFAIK currently there are no bots that would decipher it with the method I am using. -Michael
