before you start opening an online business and quitting your day job, please read the 5 things you need to know when starting an online business. first, don’t ever leave your day job yet unless your online business has a proven of 12 to 24 months successful track. this is the common mistakes i see at people leaving their day job and focusing on their online business. remember, there’s always pros and cons. please take time to weigh them. i met this webmaster one time and he’s making 5k in one month with his arcade business. he spends about 2hrs promoting his website. after 3 months of successful track, my friend decided to quit his day job. after 4 months, unfortunately, his wife got sick. and without insurance and without savings, he has to pay for everything. he has to sell his website to pay for the bills. so please, do not immediately quit your job. second, you need a product and or a service to sell. a product could be an electronics, or handy bags or even toys. a service is like making websites, designing logos and SEO. if you have to have something to offer. if it’s free, it is better. the more freebies you give the more people you will get - dont forget to consider investments you can afford. third, if you have chosen which product or service to sell, you must be able to have a unique design website. your website is your showcase to the world. every one that has internet has access to your website. ( please wait for my next posting about website creation) your website should be eye catching for your audience. a short yet easy to remember domain name is also advised. fourth, learn the basics of SEO. you need this, trust me. what’s the use of a great website if nobody knows about it. there’s paid and free SEO. Learn the basics of link exchange, URL submission, google sitemap and many more. ( please email me if you need help with SEO) fifth and sure this is not the last, Budgeting. Please budget your money wisely. And remember, to know if you are making money online, you must have better revenue than expense ratio. you spend 50, you earn 30. this is just part one. on part two, i will try to elaborate every number as much as i could.
I agreed with point 1, 2, and 4. however for point 3, for selling products, yes you need a unique website which is catchy and user-friendly. For offering services, you dont really need your own website but you still can do business. You can get a job by visiting freelance site or webmaster forum to get a job. for point 5, some kind of business dont really need a budget. you can act as a middle man to buy and sell products so you alsmost spending nothing to earn money. for offering service, most kind of services dont really need budget so it should not be any problem. just my opinion, you have a very nice point to talk with. great post.
Thanks for the great post. Actually, we can make money online without a "product" per se (For eg through contextual advertising such as adsense). That said, you still need content (which you may consider your "product")
Great post! like cool_78 said above it's perfect for people like me who are just getting started with online stuff.
Well, thanks for your good advices, very helpful suggestion.i just have my site started,i am selling some kind of hardware.i am practising what you said above.
i said products or services. yes, i have sites that only offer services - free proxy sites, free games and etc. i dont sell anything from those sites. how i generate money? adsense, pop-ups, banners and even adbrite. but to really succeed online is to sell something. you can't put your faith on those clicks....trust me....
